Stewart dealt with leg and shoulder injuries at the end of the 2013 season. He was waived with a "failed physical" designation #Titans

Not surprised. He's been going downhill for a while because of the injuries. He also saves us 6.4 million against the cap for the release so it was no-brainer.

He was good for awhile but it was overdue now.

It's about time... Can't believe we waited this long into the offseason to do it honestly.

A move that should've been done weeks ago.

What part of his game fell off over the last few years? Or has injuries deteriorated his play?

The Fisher/Stewart connection will be a popular one, especially with the Rams rebuilding their line this year. I wonder if putting Stewart in a phone booth at RG would help his play.

He used to be one of, if not the most physically dominating RT in the game. All these injuries have seemed to have killed his strength, which, as noted, was his greatest asset.

Not sure moving him around will help him at all, given again, his strength is all but gone right now.

As another response to your question, Jim Wyatt, our lead beat reporter, says he expects David Stewart to retire.

I'm expecting David Stewart to retire-- and do a lot of fishing and hunting. Just not sure how much football his body has left in it #Titans

Thanks for the quick responses. If he can't dominate the physical game anymore than I can see why his play has fallen off. That used to be his number one asset.

I saw Jim Wyatt's report as well. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on Stewart in the next few days.

Obvious good move. Hope we get a veteran tackle sometime.

I don't see Big Country being the type player who wants to hang around. He probably knows his time is up and has prepared financially for post-NFL life. I see him going out hunting and fishing now.
