Great news. Draft Matthews and our line is very solid.

I don't know anything about him but we needed some new blood on the line. At the very least we've got some depth.

Not sure how good he is but this makes me feel good that they went out and got help for the OL.

He is not horrible. But..... but that is way overpaid for a player like him

He's got some versatility, but he's average at best...

He's basically a depth player, so surprised at the contract...

I dont know why everyone is shocked by the contract its 3 mil a year. Beadles, Staffold, Schwartz and the other guy from KC got paid 2 to 3 times that price. Im not saying they are equal value but its the only way to upgrade over Legursky who stunk and didnt have to break bank. Marrone is an Oline specialist so I expect something out of the guy.

Saffold is 10X the player Williams is, take it from someone who saw both play extensively for the Rams...

Like I said, Williams offers versatility. That's his calling card at this point. If you plan on starting him at LG for 16 games you're gonna be disappointed with the results. He's not an NFL starter...

The Rams have one of the best O-Line coaches in the business (Paul Boudreau). He was able to get the most out of Chris Williams last year, but it wasn't anything to write home about. You definitely overpaid here with the guaranteed money...

Former 1st round pick of the Bears back in 08 out of Vanderbilt I believe.

Started all 16 games last year I believe.

very likely our starting LG and I am quite pleased by that.

Our HC is a former offensive line. He was able to get the most out of Legursky last year and Williams is definitely more talented.

I still expect us to draft a Guard in rounds 3-5 to groom behind Williams. His versatility obviously is a bonus.

Hahaha I love how 5 million guaranteed over 4 years is overpaid. I dont care how much is guaranteed since it is so little. My point is they didnt break the bank over a Guard. They need to fill more holes and upgrade at more positions with using the money they could have thrown at Saffold. Same reason they didnt do it last year to Levitre. Guard position is only good to a certain extent and the value to pay someone 7 million a year for that position is absurd.

Do some research on Rams O-Line coach Paul Boudreau. He's regarded around the NFL as one of the best there is, if not the best at teaching the position and getting maximum return out of guys...

Like I said, he polished Williams into the player you guys were willing to give the contract to. If he hadn't had a decent year under Boudreau's guidance he'd probably be out of the league right now...

Not thrilled, but it's not a horrible signing. When I saw that we signed him my first thought was 'please don't overpay, please don't overpay.' and... we might have overpaid, but it's not an obnoxious contract. I hope he can dig down and build on some of that potential that made him a first round pick. But as I said, I'm not thrilled.

Chris Williams got a -21.8, according to Pro Football Focus. -15.4 in Pass block, -5.7 in run block, -0.2 penalty, -0.5 on screens. Legursky was -12.5 OVR, -1.1 PB, 0.0 Screen, -14.9 run block, +3.5 Penalty. This is the best we can find to replace Levitre? We better draft a guard or we're in trouble at G yet again.

Relax man, I aint discrediting your guy in any way shape or form.

My point is, every coach has different philosophies and technique and Marrone was able to get the most of guys last year (in the way he wanted) and will likely do the same with Chris Williams.
