The Vikings may want money to roll over into next years cap to sign guys like Rudolph and Fusco to extensions.

As of now, in strict cap space, they are over the cap when you include rookie contracts.

In addition to Wootton and Cox if they turn out to be effective players.

He's like, "Awwww snap, this is how to score huh? Now how do I celebrate?! I wouldn't know I'm Les-TAR Jean!"

FWIW
Quote:
Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 1h
O'Brien Schofield, @ob_scho, who failed physical with Giants, passed one today with Titans. Also, Eagles S Kurt Coleman is visiting Vikings.

Don't know a ton about Kurt Coleman, can anyone shed some light on to his strengths/weaknesses

Coleman's pretty much just a special teams player now and a reserve safety, from what i read.

Zimmer got Taylor Mays to have moderate success as a rotational player last year before he got injured. I'm willing to give any defensive player a shot under Zimmer.

Zimmer is probably familiar with Coleman from afar since he was an Ohio state player while Zim was in Cincinnati.

The Panthers have signed FS Thomas DeCoud to a two-year contract.

Former Philadelphia Eagles safety Kurt Coleman, who was in the Twin Cities on Thursday to make a free-agent visit with the Vikings, was offered a contract by the Vikings, a source confirmed. The visit ended Friday morning with no deal agreed upon, but the door remains open for now.

I really don't know why we are bringing in another veteran at safety. We have 6 currently under contract and are almost guaranteed to draft one. 6 is enough to take into camp.

Perhaps the Vikings wont draft one this year.

I also dont expect Mistral Raymond to have a job come September. He is too weak for a Zimmer defense and is not reliable as a run defender.

FS - Smith, Coleman
SS - Sendejo, Sanford

Blanton figures to backup both spots.

Looks like they might be looking towards next year as well. Raymond, Sanford are free agents next year. Smith, Sendejo, Blanton, and Bishop are free agents the year after that. So, I still think they draft one - even if they pick up Coleman.

MN doesnt even know what they have in Harrison Smith. Is he a FS or SS? or that reason, I think they could hold off from drafting a Safety.

Coleman would add veteran depth at FS, something this team doesnt have. I view Sendejo and Sanford as Strong Safetys. Blanton might be better off at SS as well.

I would guess Zimmer already knows how he plans to use Smith in a general sense.

Not having an exact idea isn't reason enough for them not to draft one. It could be one factor, but certainly not reason enough.
