I locked mine and we'll discuss it here.

Here is my comment:

Quote:
Despite the penalties, the team still had $1.3 million in remaining 2013 cap space. Under the current labor contract, that money can be carried over, no questions asked.

According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, the Redskins opted not to carry over the $1.3 million in cap space.

Thatís right. The team owned by a man many believed would spend like the Yankees if there was no salary cap elected to forego the ability to expand this yearís spending limit by $1.3 million.

Thereís no logical reason for it. Unused cap space can now be carried over year to year automatically, with none of the games teams used to have to play to push cap space artificially from one year to the next.

WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY THINKING??!!!

Yup. Both the other owners and the union. I think they are still salty at both.

It doesn't matter that they're mad at the league and union, it's still stupid.

They're hurting the team by refusing the $. This could really pay for a nickel CB, special teams player or reserve player.

Oh I agree with this. I think its beyond stupid.

Its like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

But I think they think they won't need it given how much cap room we now have and they want to send a message to the owners as well as do what they can at this point to punish the union by not spending that $1.3M on the union's members.

Still, its stupid.

BTW- I'm not going to entertain people re-litigating the cap penalty subject. Don't discuss the merits or demerits of the cap penalty (whether you agree or disagree with it). You can discuss that there was a cap penalty and if you think the team is still mad about it. But I don't want to see this topic devolve into a 30 page back and forth about a 2 year old subject. We can discuss that the team believes they were right and this is why they are doing it without going back 2 years and discussing whether the team was right or not. Seriously, the first post I see after I post this that is going down this road will get this topic locked.

@MikeJonesWaPo 1m
I'm told that the report that the #Redskins chose not to roll $1.3M in unused cap space to this year is false.

Man I hope so. There's one thing in making a point. There's another if it hurts you more than hurting the other party.
