FA:
Jon Asamoah RG Kansas City
Randy Starks DT Miami
Mike Mitchell FS Carolina
Champ Bailey CB Denver

Draft:
1. Khalil Mack OLB Buffalo
2. Trent Murphy DE Stanford
3. Dominque Easley DT Florida
4. Antonio Richardson OT Tennessee
5. Ryan Carrethers DT Arkansas State
6. Dri Archer OW/RS Kent State
7. JC Copeland FB LSU

Analysis:
Some of you may not like the Free Agency signings, but I tried to make them as realistic as possible. On way or another, there have been reports linking the Falcons to all of the names listed in FA.

In the draft, we luck out and Mack falls to us at 6. He instantly helps our pass rush and he can cover TEs when need be. A LB corp of Spoon/Worrilow/Mack is pretty good with Bartu providing quality depth. In the 2nd round, we take another pass rusher in Trent Murphy. He can rotate in w/ Osi, Mass, and Kroy. 3rd round we take a flier on Dominique Easley. If he can bounce back from his injury, he has potential to be a dominant pass rusher. Easley is extremely versitile and Nolan would have fun with him on our DL. 4th round we go to the OL with Tiny Richardson out of Tennessee. I am not sold on Holmes yet and think this draft pick could provide some good competetion for Holmes, and Baker is never a given to be 100% healthy all year. Round 5 we get a big NT with the selection of Ryan Carrethers. Round 6 we get our return specialist and another weapon for Ryan's disposal. Dri Archer ran a 4.26 40 and could line up pretty much anywhere on offense. He could be dangerous in the slot. Round 7 we get a meathead fullback in JC Copeland to lead the way for Steven Jackson next year. I think we all were a little too hard on SJ last year - he had no line to run behind. An addition like Copeland with a new-look OL can only help the run game.

Overall, I like it. That would be a solid offseason.

Initially I was going to Question the Champ Bailey signing with this team needing to get younger, but if we can sign him at a substantially cheaper price than Samuel was going to cost us (less than $4m a year) he could provide some great vet leadership in our CB corps.

I really hope we can land Jon Asamoah, him and Alex Mack were my favorite players to target in FA this year but unfortunately I think there's too much competition to take either with all of the competition with teams that don't have a $120 million franchise quarterback. Oh the irony.. we can't afford to protect our greatest asset. Hopefully Blank and TD weren't kidding around when they said they were going to be real players in FA this year and actually bring in a top talent linemen or two, but I'm a little skeptical at this point.

The Starks signing makes sense, and is probably the most likely of all the FA signings. He can provide a penetrating force with a little more run stopping ability than we've had at DT in a while. Mitchell and Bailey as our nickelbacks/FS should be an upgrade over Decantgetitdoneanymore.

The draft makes sense after how FA plays out, all of the picks seem pretty realistic.

There was a report posted on here by BeeperKing in the offseason thread (idk the source of the quote) that ATL is in the running to land Asamoah... the way this sounded it seemed like we could be front-runners. Pre-FA is always full of rumors though, so you never know.

Quote:
On G Jon Asamoah and the #Falcons, 1 NFL source said it would be a "small upset" if he didn't wind up signing w/ATL to play RG.

good in theory though a tad unrealistic in where the players will be chosen imo. And pretty much all these guys have been discussed ad nauseam. I can 100% guarantee the draft will not go like this, itd be nice to switch it up a little.

How is it unrealistic? Most of the players are rated right where I took them IIRC. Also, I've done like 8 or so mocks and I've tried mixing it up as much as possible. The past few I've done have been out of the box IMO and nobody liked them. Also, the 'fact that you can 100% guarantee the draft won't go like this'... well I can say that about your mock or anyone else's mocks... they're called a mock for a reason. Our FO doesn't even know how it's gonna play out- NOBODY KNOWS 100% what will happen in the Draft. They have an idea, but it's a crapshoot at best.

Richardson wont last until the 4th, Easley likely wont last until the 3rd. IMO of course.

And Im not saying its bad, of ot happened id be ecstatic, it just pretty certainly wont. How many times do we see even in the early mid rounds (2-4) that players get picked put of no where and guys who people loved "drop".

Like I said its a crapshoot at best come May. Everyone has their own opinions of how it all will play out. I tried to make this mock realistic and IMO it's pretty close with obviously my twist but thanks for you comments.
