This is mock number 123,456 placed on the Browns team forum...

What do I win?

178 views and 2 responses!

YA!

Without further ado...

FREE AGENCY

Geoff Schwartz - RG - KC Chiefs
5 years/25 million with a 5 million signing bonus

Analysis - May the Schwartz(s) be with you. Right side of Browns O-Line is set. Paired with brother Mitchell (who is under appreciated) and solidifies Browns line.

Toby Gerhart - RB - Minnesota Vikings
4 years/10 million with a 2 million signing bonus

Analysis - Under the radar. I think he is the best free agent running back available. He wants to start. We give him his opportunity.

Jarius Byrd - FS - Buffalo Bills
5 years/47.5 million with a 10 million signing bonus

Analysis - Comes down to Byrd vs Ward. I choose Byrd. He likes Pettine. He likes money. Browns have both.

Arthur Moats - ILB - Buffalo Bills
3 years/7.5 million with a 1.5 million signing bonus

Analysis - He is a 2 down player. Pretty good vs the run and gives Pettine a voice at the LB position.

Calvin Pace - OLB - NY Jets
2 years/7.5 million with a 2.5 million signing bonus

Analysis - He had a really good 2013. Very familiar with Pettine's system. He gives Browns a great rotation at OLB.

EXTENSIONS

Alex Mack - C - After testing the market Mack signs a deal with the Raiders. The Browns elect to match.

6 years/60 million with a 12 million signing bonus

Joe Haden - CB - Browns decide to lock up Haden and give him lots of money to feel better about letting Ward leave.

6 years/69 million with a 15 million signing bonus

CAVEAT - I have no idea how all of these figures fit into the current salary cap - nor do I care. My approach to free agency is much like my wife's approach to life. I AM GOING TO SPEND SOMEONE ELSE'S MONEY AND NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.

NOTABLE CUTS

Quentin Groves - I take Calvin Pace. All day

Brandon Weeden - I don't like him very much.

DRAFT

Analysis - Browns come rolling into the draft with obvious needs at QB, WR, ILB, and overall depth. They actually attempt to address these needs. Here we go...

Prediction -

Houston - Blake Bortles
St. Louis - Jadeveon Clowney
Jacksonville - Khalil Mack

1A - Teddy Bridgewater - QB - Louisville

Teddy please. Browns get their guy.

1B - Ryan Shazier - LB - Ohio State

Playmaker. He is a heat seaking missle.

2 - Jordan Matthews - WR - Vanderbilt

Polished. Professional. Perfect #2.

3 - Jaylen Watkins - CB - Florida

Doesn't get as much pub as the other two. He is legit. Runs a 4.4.

3 - Telvin Smith - LB - Florida State

Weapon X. I don't care if he only plays on 3rd down and on special teams. He was the best player on FSU's defense.

4 - CJ Fiedorowicz - TE - Iowa

Perfect compliment to Cameron.

4 - Ryan Grant - WR - Tulane

Smooth route runner gives the Browns nice depth at WR.

5 - Tyler Gaffney - RB - Stanford

I like him. Nice depth. Versatile.

6 - Ronald Powell - OLB - Florida

Potential.

7 - Spencer Long - G - Nebraska

Injury issues from 2013 cause him to slide. Could easily be the starter at LG in 2015.

UNDRAFTED FA

Pat O'Donnell - P - Miami

OVERALL ANALYSIS

Any thoughts?

.....and I am the obligatory 2nd reply.

For that,

I like it, although I am a bit concerned about all the F/A money getting tossed about. We could be loading up this year, to lose out on bringing back our own guys (Cameron, Sheard, Taylor) next year.

Replace tyler gaffney with Isaiah Crowell and this kills, Telvin Smith and Shazier at LB would be the speed Pettine is looking for

Not a huge Gerhart fan. Or any FA rb for that matter. I would rather grab any of the plethora of talented backs in the draft and roll with rookie, Oby and Baker.

Besides that, I like it. Ya done good

I really like Gerhart. Loved him coming out of Stanford and I have followed him in Minny. He runs hard, has underrated speed, and ran very effectively in a ZBS at Stanford. Low mileage too. I understand the hesitation.

Regarding Cameron, Sheard, and Taylor. They all need to prove something. Of the 3 - I like Sheard best. He is solid. Taylor doesn't strike me as irreplaceable. Cameron needs 2014 to be more consistent. Improved QB play will help that immensely. He disappeared for long stretches in 2013. I hope that is a function of 3 QB's and being the only weapon beside Gordon.

Thanks for the input.
