Another outside view: teams are going to look at the trade for Sproles and ask themselves "if he was so valuable, why did the Eagles trade for a guy who will turn 31 in three months (and extend him)?"

Then they'll compare what the Eagles gave up for Sproles and think "is this guy worth more than Sproles, even at his current age and with that new contract?"

If you can get more than a sixth for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat if I were in your shoes. Heck, even a seventh would work. Most teams probably figure that Brown is the odd man out in the system, so if they just wait, they can sign him in late August for a cheap one year deal and not give up a draft pick at all.

Hence why we might as well just keep him, he's worth way more than a 7th round pick to us.

Makes sense to me. I was just giving my opinion of what you could get for him if you had to trade him.

If nothing else, he's injury insurance against something going wrong in training camp/preseason.

As much as I like him, I like Polk a little more. He has everything to be a decent RB in the NFL but he is stuck behind the best RB in the NFL. He would be better used for other teams. I'd be a win for both parties. We'd get a draft pick and he would get to produce.

Plus, Polk, Is a battering ram, we should use him and his fat arse more often.

Brown's a decent player, but guys like him are a dime a dozen. He crushes in preseason, but I don't think he could carry half a load for any team. Disparate running styles aside, his effectiveness ceiling is about at Vaughn Hebron.

We have to remember that he still hasn't figured it all out yet. Brown's such a raw player. He had what, 15 carries the year before entering the draft? His main flaw is his vision, he's always bouncing runs outside and isn't a patient runner. The vision will come with experience.

I think that Bryce Brown can be a quality starter in the NFL. It's too bad he's stuck behind Shady.

No, his main flaw is an utter inability to contribute effectively in the passing game.
(His missed time in college contributed to this.)

Why is Polk on the field?
Brown doesn't get it, that's why.
He is not going to get his chance to catch up here.

A decent write-up on Brown's tendency to bounce things outside:
http://www.thechipwagon.com/eagles/2013/12/the-bryce-brown-fallacy-sort-of.html

I think Bryce's biggest problem is his running back "vision"......he has trouble making the right reads in Chip's offense.

I don't think Bryce makes the roster tbh. I think Chip likes Polk more.

He definitely likes Polk more. But I could see us keeping 4 rbs and 5 wrs. Sproles being one of the rbs and 6th wr.

The tweets post trade trying to figure out the compensation of the trade were hysterical. The beat writers were so confused for a while there.

He doesn't have any trade value. How am I so sure? What's the history of NFL teams trading for top notch backup RB's like Ben Tate?

He's worth a 6th at best

The Eagles got more compensation for Bryce Brown than they did for DeSean Jackson.
