If the Bengals choose not to draft DE very early in the Draft, Montgomery has a chance to make the roster. He's only been in the league one year and he hasn't played any games yet, so he could still turn into something. He was once viewed as a #1 overall pick. He definitely deserves a chance, he might be worth it just as long as he stays out of trouble.

......Montgomery is listed on 'bengals.com' as a LB.......

And Marshall Newhouse is listed as an OG, which is clearly not his position.

Montgomery is clearly a 4-3 DE. Pushing him in an already more than crowded group of LB's as it is makes no sense at all.

Don't know if Montgomery with play DE or LB or a hybrid like Moch.

We currently have 13 D-linemen for probably eight spots, and 11 LB's for 6 likely spots, They both seem pretty crowded to me,,,,,,,,,

9 DL spots actually. 5 of them will go at DE, like they started last year. Only reason they went with 8 DL guys for most of the season was because Geathers's season ended early. If they don't elect to draft a DE somewhere, Montgomery odds to make it just increased.

Not really FA news, but there was nowhere else to put this and it's offseason news nonetheless. Didn't see a need to create a thread for it.

Anyway, Leon is now cleared to participate in all football drills as part of his rehab. Great news.

I really hope we go 1st round corner. That is a premium position to have in the NFL, and I don't want to have to draft a corner next year who will have to start immediately. Draft him now and learn behind a solid group.

Imagine 2015 (likely):
Hall
Kirkpatrick
Rookie

I doubt we keep Newman and Jones after this year. That depth is gonna suddenly turn to not much real soon

I agree. I want a corner this year especially with the crop that is available.

We've reached an agreement with former Jets and Browns punter TJ Conley.

Here's a small article on him: http://www.cincyjungle.com/2014/4/16/5621714/t-j-conley-signs-with-cincinnati-bengals

I think it's just insurance incase he isn't ready for camp. Guess we view Quinn Sharp as a kicker.

I'm assuming Huber will still be the guy but, as it says in the article, if Huber does go down we'll have a guy we can bring in straight away who knows the team. There's also nothing wrong with a bit of competition.

I've sort of lost track of the whole off-season so I'll have no idea who's playing for who when the season starts.

No, doubt that's it.

It's another body for camps in case Huber isn't ready. Maybe even TC. Plus they get a good look at him if they need to bring in an emergency punter. They basically had to bring in Powell cold last year. I think they're trying to avoid that happening again.

It's smart.

I think it's partl;y that, plus having another guy in camp to take kicks on special teams practices. remember, Graham used to kick himself silly in training camp and always fatigued by preseason game 3. Split up the workload all thru camp and keep Huber fresher.

Not necessarily Bengals FA news, but I felt like I'd pass it along.

Chad Johnson has signed with the Montreal Alouettes after impressing in workouts.

I'm very happy for him. Hopefully he can stick around with them for a few seasons. He's been wanting to get back into football since Miami cut him.

Very sad news I heard and wanted to pass along. Marvin Lewis' father has passed away.

We've exercised AJ's 5th-year option, so he's offically under contract for two more years now.
