2014: It's Yourz *RZA VOICE*

To start the off-season, the Jets have $27,156,121 to play with.

After the obvious cuts, the Jets are $54,526,121 under the salary cap.

Quote:
CB Antonio Cromartie released $9.5M cap savings
QB Mark Sanchez released $8.3M cap savings
WR Santonio Holmes released $8.25M cap savings
RB Mike Goodson released $1.32M cap savings

Whatever though, Mark's still beautiful.

Quote:
K Nick Folk franchise tagged 1/$3.556M

Quote:
RT Austin Howard 4/$26 million ($4.5M)
CB Ellis Lankster, 2/$1.63M ($730k)
LB Calvin Pace, 1/$2M
DL Leger Douzable, 1/$940,000
CB Darrin Walls (RFA), 1/$730,000
CB Johnny Patrick, 1/$645k

The Jets make an uninspired offer to Jeff Cumberland, but he opts to sign else where.

Quote:
QB Michael Vick 1/$5M
WR Emmanuel Sanders 4/$24M
OG Zane Beadles, 4/$20M
WR Andrew Hawkins (RFA), 1/$1.5M

I would rather not sign Michael Vick to be completely honest, but reports are saying that we are heavily interested. By all means this is a good move football-wise; I just hope he doesn't prove to be a locker room "cancer."

Emmanuel Sanders is another name that we have been hearing a lot of and I think that he is a good receiver, better blocker and someone who will provide us with a lot of versatility and flexibility; he has played every WR in Pittsburgh and has even lined up in the backfield from time to time.

Zane Beadles is a professional and an above average guard that I figure will give us stability at the RG position for at least the next couple of years. Its important that we start to build continuity on the line.

Everything that I've ever read about Beadles is that he is a character-player.

Andrew Hawkins is arguably one of the fastest and probably s the most shifty player in the NFL. He's the home run threat that we've lacked since Brad Smith bolted north. #FREEHAWK

Quote:
CB Antonio Cromartie 2/$8M
FS Major Wright 1/$950k

Antonio Cromartie reups on a much smaller deal; I don't trust him but I am hopeful that last year's performance was affected more by injury than it was by skill.

I figure Major Wright to be a bit of a project for Rex; he showed some playmaking skills early on in his career and God knows our problems with creating turnovers.

And now Young Angel and I will present to you the 2014 NFL Draft with the New York Jets picking #18 in the First Round.

Without further adieu...

1: TE Eric Ebron, North Carolina

Slowly but surely, we're building an offense. Ebron figures to be representing the Jets in the Pro Bowl for many years.

Quote:
Trade! The New York Jets trade their 2nd, 4th, and 7th Round Picks to the Oakland Raiders for their 2nd Round Pick (#36).

2: WR Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt

Slowly, but surely...

3.1: QB Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illioinis

Although I am a fan of Geno, I think that its imperative that we continue to look into the QB position. Garoppolo is a typical small school QB with nice technique and skills. At the very least, we can expect him to be a long-term backup at the position. He also reminds me of Chad Pennington some.

3.2: CB Loucheiz Purifoy, Florida

He's a playmaker on both defense and special teams (3 FF, 2 blocks) , and even has experience on offense. He has incredible man-coverage skills and is incredibly fast; I think that he would have been a first round pick next year if he stayed in school. I love this kid.

Quote:
Trade! The New York Jets trade CB Kyle Wilson to the San Diego Chargers for their 4th Round Pick.

4: LB Michael Sam, Missouri

Kyle Wilson is a FA after this year and I don't think that we're going to pay him so we take advantage of his high stock and send him West. About Sam, not only do I think that this is the best locker room possible for him, but I think that he has a real shot to develop into a nice OLB off the bench.

5.1. RB Devonta Freeman, Florida State

He is a back that can catch consistently and effectively out of the backfield.

5.2 LB Andrew Jackson, Western Kentucky

The former President is a huge ILB that can potentially fill in for Harris in a couple of years. He's a big boy who is quick enough to fill up and shoot down holes against the run.

6.1 RB De'Anthony Thomas, Oregon

MOAARRRRR

6.2 P - Kirby Van Der Kamp, Iowa State

Punters, man.

6.3 OL DEPTH

And we're out.

---

The result is this...

QB: Geno Smith / Michael Vick / Jimmy Garoppolo
RB: Chris Ivory / Bilal Powell / Devonta Freeman / De'Anthony Thomas
FB: Tommy Bohanon
SE: Emmanual Sanders / Stephen Hill
FL: Jordan Matthews / David Nelson
SL: Jeremy Kerley / Andrew Hawkins
TE: Eric Ebron / Zach Sudfeld
LT: D'Brickashaw Ferguson
LG: Brian Winters / William Campbell
OC: Nick Mangold
RG: Zane Beadles
RT: Austin Howard / Oday Aboushi

DE: Muhammad Wilkerson
NT: Damion Harrison / Kenrick Ellis
DT: Sheldon Richardson / Leger Douzable
JK: Quinton Coples / Antwan Barnes
LB: Demario Davis
LB: David Harris / Andrew Jackson
LB: Calvin Pace / Garrett McIntyre
CB: Dee Milliner / Loucheiz Purifoy / Johnny Patrick
CB: Antonio Cromartie / Ellis Lankster / Darrin Walls
S1: Dawan Landry / Josh Bush
S2: Antonio Allen / Major Wright

K: Nick Folk
P: Kirby Van Der Kamp

Michael Sam willnever be able to play OLBer. I might stand a better chance of dropping back in coverage than he does.

I really hope we don't sign Vick.

Not sure why we need Hawkins and DAT.

Love the mock set up. Like and dislike some of the moves. I'm ok with the free agency. I don't think Matthews lasts till our pick in the 2nd so I view that as unrealistic. I think we have needs that need to be addressed where a 3rd doesn't need to be used on a QB. Also I don't understand why we would need to bring in Hawkins, Freeman and DAT.

No ones asking Michael Sam to play any type of coverage but if you want to assume otherwise, then whatever.

With that said, id still rather Michael Sam than you tbh.

Also it's called value. It's a 6th round pick.

Enjoyed it a lot. Free agency was very solid and realistic, the only pick I felt we would be reaching is Sam (more of a 5th round pick IMO) but that's not the end of the world.

Great job

Free Agency was decent but I see us making at least one splash signing... Vick doesn't count.

The draft ... we don't need another QB in round 3 .... And Michael Sam isn't an OLB .. his a situational pass rusher ... but he won't do the well rounded thing and drop in coverage ... considering Coples is already somewhat of a designated pass rushing OLB we need the other one to be more flexible and drop back more often, Believe Pace did it over 30% of the time so its a legitimate concern in whoever's playing that side

I hate the Sam pick. He will be a HUGE distraction for the Jets. The media will be a over this. It will be the season of FIRST GAY GUY DRAFTED, FIRST GAY GUY IN THE NFL, FIRST GAY GUY TO START NFL GAME, FIRST GAY GUY TO GET A TACKEL, and nothing to do with the jets.

We don't need this, his talent is not even that good.

I don't want Vick. I feel he will be a distraction and he has been a turnover machine in the past.

I don't know the details for Hawkins but I don't want to lose a draft choice to sign him.

Everything else is fine, although I question the decision to sign Vick and draft a Qb in the third round, where we could get another quality Wr. Also think Sam killed himself at the combine and will probably drop to 5th or 6th unless he has a better pro day. Since Richardson was his roommate, I can actually see us drafting him.

As much as i hope he would, Jimmy G won't make it to the third. Desperate enough teams might even go bottom first for him. As we get closer to the draft you will see all those 2nd Rd 3rd Rd QBs get bumped up because of the high QB demand. Even Zach Mettenberger might not be available after Mid 2nd. Aaron Murray I think moves up to 3rd-early 4th if this trend falls true. Thats where we might go if we decide to draft someone in that range. Either him or David Fales (who is Kurt Warners personal favorite QB sleeper) would be good.
