Picks are so overrated. Yes they are important, but the odds of a 3rd or 4th rounder being any decent is not good. For every Cam Bynum you get, you get Chazz Surratt, Wyan Davis, and Kellen Mond. Or Dru Samia, TJ Clemmings, and the list goes on and on. Hedging our bets on a guy who is way more likely to be an impact player seeing meaningful snaps, but also has the potential to be an absolute game-wrecker is a no-brainer to me.

You could just get it now... but good thought (I hadn't even considered that). I thoroughly enjoyed turning Eastern Michigan into an absolute powerhouse based on the fact that they were a 1 or 2 star team and I liked their uni combos.

That was a red flag for me. I agree with you, in principle, but that's a high pressure situation to be in. Do you really want your leader and most important player to have issues? Idk the details behind it, but apparently they aren't too bad or they wouldn't have traded up to take him. But we don't need another Demetrius Underwood (I'm NOT saying that JJ is another one!). I googled Demetrius, and I either didn't know or forgot how messed up he was. So he's a terrible comparison to bring up, since he had severe mental problems. He's just the only one I can think of that had mental issues derail his career so horribly.

Yes. That offense owns 6 NFL records including Points, Touchdowns and 50+ point games. They had 5 players with 10+ TDs. The next closest is 3. They also set 8 individual player records including passing yards, most 4 TD games, most 400 yard passing games, ect and 23 franchise records. In total that offense broke 37 NFL, Player and Franchise records in 2013. People hold the Superbowl against them, but statistically--thats the best offense in NFL history. The purpose of the game is to score more points that your opponent right? They are the highest scoring offense in NFL history and scored the most TDs in a single season. Simple. If the SB loss means they cant be #1 despite statistically being #1, so be it. Its peoples opinion.

Plus Brock should have Aiyuk for the time frame of his contract. Hopefully they can continue to find offensive talent in the draft. The Oline is definitely going to get younger, so hopefully they know how to pick them. They haven’t had success picking OTs at least.

That’s fair, but with respect to his upside (whatever it is), he’s gonna have almost no chance to get there in Chicago because CW is going to get nearly every if not every developmental rep out there, so as a Bears backup for the next few years you’re almost surely just gonna see what we saw last year if he’s forced to play. What we saw from Bagent was 2-2, losing in a blowout to the Brandon Staley Chargers (scoring just 6 points in the first 57 minutes) and in a game in which he himself turned the ball over 3 times in the 4Q of a very winnable one score loss against NO. In the two games he won, he beat literally the league’s worst team playing on a short week (scoring just 16 points to win by 3 against CAR at home) and a tanking Josh McDaniels Raiders team (using its own backup QB, on the back of 3 INTs including a pick six). If the benchmark for him “impressing” in those 4 games was not blowing the wins that were figuratively handed to him, then fine - he met that bar. But that’s not really a bar. 6 INTs and 2 fumbles lost in 4.5 games paired with a 6.0 ypa and a questionable-at-best arm doesn’t scream “Let’s see what we’ve got here” to me, no matter how few reps with the starters he had in practice. They gave him the “Just don’t **** it up” playbook on game day and he still turned the ball over 8 times in 4.5 games. None of that is good IMO. Some of it is just less bad than the rest.
