Looked around and couldn't find one so apologies if there is already an appropriate thread. Thought it would be a good idea to have a place where we could talk about everything and anything free agency.

Some big names hitting the market. Who do you want most?

I like Alterraun Verner. Just 25, he is playing his best football with a full contract worth of his peak ahead of him. He's also a really good character and smart guy too and would love to have a player with that blend of talent and personality on the team. It would also allow us to move Skrine to NB. I like Skrine but I do think we struggle because of the #2CB spot, especially on giving up easy first downs.

Haden and Verner would have us set for 5 good years possibly!

Best guess is this...

Ward is gone

Try and get Byrd and maybe Whitner or Leonard

Go hard after Shields

I want Sam Shields. If we keep Mack and sign Byrd + Shields this would be an A- off season for me already.

How much do you think Shields will get? Read that Verner should get near $10m

I don't know who I'd rather have if it was out of Byrd and Verner (imo best S and best CB). Probably Verner

Brandon Spikes anyone? He is 26 years old, and he should be reasonably cheap

Sign Edelman. Draft Watkins and Hyde.

Gordon, Watkins, Eldeman, Hyde, Cameron?

Holy offense Batman

He's a two down player but he is really good on those two downs. LBs will be intriguing, do we need two new starting inside backers? I'm not sold on Robertson, he is a mess against the pass

A combination of Spikes and maybe Scov, or Zimwalt, or Borland would be nice. Plus Robertson can be the swing Linebacker and special teamer

Junior Floyd

... in all actuality, I bet you could fit in Jimmy G with your second round pick, which in that scenario, would be teh new hotness for me.

With all the cap space and planning the FO has done in evaluating the roster, you would have to think we have to do due diligence with Mack, Ward, Haden, and Rubin with their contracts or extensions first and foremost so they know their financial position in FA.

Assuming we still have significant cap space, I like the following: Grossman QB, Byrd S, Clabo/Schwartz or nastiest G, and best speed ILB. Also depending on money, possible backup TE, punter, RB, Bess replacement, DE.

Lets say we are successful in luring Jarius Byrd to Cleveland AND TJ Ward walks.
OK, Byrd is a FREE safety. The other 2 prominent safeties on our roster are Tashaun Gipson (starter in 2013) and Johnson Bademosi. But they are both listed as FREE safeties.
The only other STRONG safety on our roster is Jordan Poyer. Yikes! Converted CB from Oregon State, but a very raw young player.

My solution?

Draft Dion Bailey, SS, USC and sign SS James Ihedigbo from the Ravens.

Bailey is listed as a FS on CBS.

I would go with Loston or Bucannon

Am I the only one that sees us signing Byrd and Moats from the Bills then going after a guard and a #2 CB. No one expensive but someone who is an upgrade over pinkston/lauvos/cousins and someone that is better than Skrine. I think we try to keep Ward but in the end he walks.

That is all

Really want James Jones but unfortunately he will be 30 by the time the season starts. Hopefully Scott Chandler hits free agency as i think he would be a nice #2 Te alongside JC. Wesley Woodyard would also be a good one, an ILB but more of a coverage one who could compliment Robertson nicely.
