I read that this is basically a one year deal if we want it to be

Guaranteed money is only year 1. The 3 mill left is only gtd for injury. Makes the deal even better
Although I'm sure we will want and need him in year 2

That's interesting and one hell of a deal for us. For some reason if he slows down big time, we could cut ties without losing much. Of course, that is doubtful since he doesn't rely on speed at all.

YEAR BASE S. BONUS MISC. CAP HIT DEAD
2014 955,000 2,272,500 500,000 3,727,500 9,000,000
2015 6,000,000 2,272,500 - 8,272,500 2,272,500

im surprised he signed this if this is true?
and also surprised that we offered him this. were going to need him for year 2.

unless balke anticipates kap signing this year as the reason he make the cap hit low this year
and then he also anticipates signing crabs to an extension for next season and beyond.

if anything i would have guessed that he got a bigger cap hit this season because we for sure have the room. and next year have a lower cap hit for kap and possibly crabs.

But we could release him next year so he may not even be on the team. Then again, like you said, we will need him for the 2015 season as well. Who knows, but the cap hit is about 3.75 million for the upcoming season.

Nice! Paraag does it again!

We keep talking about how much Trent and Jim contribute to our team's success, but I'd like to give some of the credit to Paraag. He's a genius managing the cap. Don't know who actually does the sit down, face to face, or phone to phone conversations with agents. But in the end when we sign guys, our own or someone else's, and when we let guys go it's always a good move with the cap in mind.

No doubt, that's why I'm confident the Kaepernick deal won't screw us in the short term or long term.

Boldin ranked among the best in the slot this past year, and Crabtree was in the top 5 in 2012. So lets run more three WR sets!
