http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/03/redskins-reportedly-set-to-tag-orakpo-if-no-deal-signed-by-deadline/

Quote:
Washington has to decide whether or not to use their franchise tag on Orakpo by 4 p.m. ET on Monday, something that they were reportedly unsure about over the weekend. With push coming closer to shove, though, Ed Werder of ESPN reports that they have come to a decision.

Great decision! Now we can focus on upgrading the rest of the roster

And the sky is blue. Honestly this has always been a no brainer decision.

read somewhere he is looking for around 5 years 50 mill with a 20 mil signing bonus which is a good sign, thought it would be much worse than that.

if the Redskins can negotiate closer to a 9m per year i would be ecstatic

Same here, they have unit July to get that down before the franchise tag is locked in to place

Really it doesnt matter what the deal is...what truly matters is the guarenteed money. I think 5 y 50 mill with 20 mill guarenteed would be a great deal for both sides....

This is right in line with what I'm hoping we'll end up having to pay him.

This is good news. No reason not to keep Orakpo for at least one more year.

Are you done following the insiders from ES yet? Dude has been wrong more times than I can even remember at this point. Cool dude, almost always wrong though.

No, I can differentiate news from their opinion. However, you can tell this wasn't an easy decision for the Redskins. The fact it came almost at the deadline tells you that.

I wouldn't go that far with almost always wrong. That group has had their hits and misses. Everyone does

He came out and said they weren't going to do it, no chance. He also claimed Jay Gruden had ZERO interest in the job. Like I said, cool dude, mostly wrong.

He's not a bad dude at all buck and I appreciate the insight they bring but people follow his word like gospel. I've seen him wrong more times than I can even remember, the only time I remember him being correct was the Griffin trade which most assumed was going to happen anyway.

Dude could claim we were bringing Barry Sanders our of retirement and some Redskins fans would believe it. I have no disdain towards the guy whatsoever, it's just crazy seeing his tweets posted everywhere. The dude spitballed ideas about free agents and 5 minutes later it was on every Redskins message board lmao.

No, JLC was on the podcast and said that Jon Gruden advised Jay not to take the job and that he'd have no interest from there, LL was echoing JLC.

Beyond that, he said Jay and Bruce were looking at this as a rebuild type team and that they didn't want to lock in someone like Orakpo to a long term deal (or that massive chunk of change) when they've got so many positions they need to fill. Beyond that, he was citing opinion. As I said, you need to separate opinion from truth.
