Alex Smith is has 10 years and a lot of mileage. Yes, he's only 31 next year, but the time to think about his replacement is already here.

Carr has a lot of Smith's attributes, with a better arm. True, there are knocks, but that is why he may make it into the 20s. He could apprentice for a couple of years.

I'm going to say no. Now if Bridgewater or Bortles drops, then yes. Really just because we have other needs than QB right now. I'd rather keep developing Bray and a future mid-round pick. I'm thinking we have 3-5 more years of Smith.

Drafting a QBOTF does nothing to help you now. We have too many needs to spend a high pick on a QB unless he's far and away the BPA.

This. Too many holes, not enough money to use a high draft pick on a QB. If anything maybe take Mett in the 3rd or 4th. But I'd really rather no QBs this draft.

I would say no. I am not completely sold on Carr as a prospect anyway, but I think we need to hitch our wagons to Alex Smith considering what we gave up for him and view him as our long term starter from a 3 to 4 year standpoint. We have some work to do adding young, developmental depth behind our current starters that are aging.

I'm on the Tyler Bray bandwagon. The kid had first round tools and dropped because of inconsistency and attitude. Since coming here we have had no issues with him and he looked great in the Pre Season.

The future is bright for this kid and just because he wasn't drafted doesn't mean he can't be a stud.

nope, I'd take Johnny or Teddy if they were available, those are the only QBs.

Nope. I would rather see what we have with Bray before we grant the QBOTF title to Carr. Also, we have more than 1-2 years with Smith. We should re sign him and have him until hes finishing his career.

We'd have to make a bunch of decent moves in free agency before I'd consider this. I'd take him before Johnny Football, but that's not saying much.

Right now I'd rather draft a DE/WR/FS/OG (x2) or ILB before I'd even consider a QB short of Bortles/Bridgewater.

Absolutely......NOT!! Since day one of signing Bray we haven't heard one peep about him, which tells me that he has his collective crap together. We hold pat with what we have till next years draft, let Bray continue to mature, then cut Chase loose and draft a 5-6 round QB in 2015. Wink

+1 I agree.

I feel as though at some point we have to invest in what we already have and go with it. We don't really know what we have in Bray (AT ALL), so we should not go into this draft expecting to get a qb within the 1st round. I don't care who falls. We invested pretty 2yrs worth of draft picks in Smith. SMITH IS OUR QBOTFF. I think we need to go into this draft and shore up our dline. Look to add Aaron Donald, the guy can break double teams and would be a great fit as a DE in our scheme next to POE.

There is not a QB coming out this year, except for Bortels, that I would take higher than a third round.

Extend Smith, continue to develop Bray, be comfortable with Chase for another year, and let the Bray development fall where it falls. Next year, we might take a QB, but CERTANLY not this year. Too many other holes.

I could see our front office considering Bridgewater if he fell to us. Which I still don't see as likely. It will be interesting to see where we are at with a Smith extension etc. Could be a Packers type of situation. I know we have a number of holes to fill, and I don't know that I'd pull the trigger, but I can say it wouldn't shock me.
