The Rams released last year’s starting center Tim Barnes and tried to bring in a replacement by signing Ryan Groy to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent, but the Bills matched and kept Groy in Buffalo. The next option for the team appears to be John Sullivan. Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports that Sullivan visited with the team on Monday.

Sullivan started 93 games over six seasons for the Vikings before missing the 2015 season with a back injury. He was an effective player for much of that time, but Minnesota moved on last year and Sullivan spent the season as a backup for the Redskins.

The Seahawks had expressed their intentions to add a kicker to their roster to compete with Blair Walsh and the team announced Wednesday evening that they signed John Lunsford to do just that. Lunsford was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week after signing a futures contract with the team in January. Lunsford spent time with the San Francisco 49ers in the preseason last year, appearing in three games. He converted both extra point attempts tried and had five kickoffs with two going for touchbacks.

“After playing in Minnesota, I just got rid of my Twitter,” Matt replied, drawing some laughs that were real yet uncomfortable. “I was harassed left and right.”

Matt Kalil used to be on Twitter under the @mattkalil handle — at least according to this list the Vikings put out at one time — but it’s safe to say things got ugly as his play with the Vikings regressed (and the confrontations weren’t limited to social media).

Are us Vikings fans really all that mean!?

What would the Cam Newton truthers do when he end up making Cam have a few more surgeries this upcoming offseason, if he still had twitter?

The Buffalo Bills claimed defensive end Scott Crichton off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.

Crichton was released by the Vikings on Friday after spending three years with the team. The Vikings waived Crichton with an injury designation at the conclusion of training camp last year and he spent the year on the team’s injured reserve list. Crichton – a third round pick of the Vikings in 2014 – appeared in 21 games with Minnesota between the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He recorded just 10 total tackles in limited action.

Vikings owner/president Mark Wilf told PFT Live on Tuesday that the team has embarked on an effort to get defensive end Jim Marshall, a key member of the Purple People Eaters, into the Hall of Fame. Marshall would be eligible for consideration by the Senior Committee.

A fourth-round pick of the Browns in 1960, Marshall spent 1961 through 1979 with the Vikings, appearing in 282 straight games with 270 consecutive starts. He still holds the career record for the recovery of opponents’ fumbles with 29. Marshall, 79, also appeared in four Super Bowls with the Vikings. Fellow Vikings defensive linemen Alan Page and Carl Eller previously made it to Canton.

I would like to see both Marshall and Jerry Kramer make it in as Senior candidates next year.

Charlotte (N.C) — Ahead of Saturday’s season opener versus the Charleston Battery, the Charlotte Independence announced the signing of former football wide receiver, Randy Moss. Pending United Soccer League (USL) and U.S. Soccer approval, the 40-year-old rookie will wear number 84 for the Independence.

Renewing my career is something that I’ve thought about for a long time now,” said Moss. “I’m excited to get started with the Charlotte Independence and show the world that I can be a two-sport athlete.”

Learning a new sport and position will be an indomitable task for Moss, but he says he is ready for the challenge. For months, Moss has been training via Spartan races and Crossfit boot camp hosted in Charlotte.

Our team stands to gain a lot by bringing in Randy,” said Independence Head Coach Mike Jeffries. “Obviously, he’s a proven winner and his athleticism is an attribute that translates to any sport he plays."

Looking to build off last season’s fifth-place USL Eastern Conference finish, the Independence return 14 players including MVP Finalist, Enzo Martinez. Starting Saturday, June 17th, the Independence will move to their new home stadium at the Sportsplex at Matthews.

Retired football star Randall Cunningham has been sacked from his latest gig. The one-time UNLV and NFL quarterback told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Friday that he was cut from the Silverado High School football team.

Cunningham, a former Vikings quarterback, was head coach of the Las Vegas high school’s football program for two seasons. Cunningham says he was told that the administration wanted a coach who was on campus during the day.

No quarterback in NFL history has held up better than Brett Favre, his streak of 321 consecutive starts — including the playoffs — a league record. Peyton Manning ranks second at 227. Eli Manning and Philip Rivers own the longest active streaks at 211 and 185, respectively. Eli must play six-plus more seasons, through his 41st birthday, to match it.

Favre was the NFL’s Iron Man, and is extending the reputation into retirement. The Pro Football Hall of Famer is training for a 100-mile bike race in June. The Trek 100 is based in Wisconsin and serves as a major fundraiser for Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC Fund). Favre is riding 50 to 100 miles a week in Mississippi as part of his preparation, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
