excerpts from a Favre biography, Gunslinger:

http://thelab.bleacherreport.com/gunslinger-brett-favre-aaron-rodgers-feud-jeff-pearlman-excerpt/

really shows the tension between the old man and Rodgers when he came to camp as a rookie.

Saints linebacker Michael Mauti’s season is over after doctors recommended surgery to treat his ulcerative colitis. The Saints placed Mauti on the non-football injury and illness list earlier this week. Mauti, who will be a free agent after the season, told reporters he plans to resume playing football next season.

Mauti, 26, is in his second season with the Saints. He was voted a special teams captain this season by his teammates. He played in eight games this season and played in all 16 last year after the Saints claimed him via waivers.

As someone who suffers from IBD (Crohn's), I know that Ulcerative Colitis can be a very serious condition. The surgery most likely involves removing diseased segment of his bowel. I hope he has a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Good for him. Seems like a good fit as a change of pace for Gordon

Percy Harvin is back, and so are his migraines. Listed as questionable with an illness, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Harvin has suffered a recurrence of migraine headaches. Harvin is not expected to play on Sunday against the Jaguars.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge sentenced former NFL safety Darren Sharper to 20 years in prison Tuesday after Sharper admitted to drugging and raping women in four states. This sentence is part of a plea deal negotiated with prosecutors in four states. In August, a federal judge in New Orleans sentenced Sharper to 18 years in prison. Sharper has appealed that sentence.

Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald passed a pair of Hall of Famers on the all-time receptions list. Fitzgerald caught 10 passes in the Cards’ win over Washington, passing Cris Carter and Marvin Harrison for third place on the list.

Well that didn't take long. Bills place Percy Harvin on the reserve/Non-football illness list, ending his (brief) season
