no....but i jus see others outbidding us. and thats if he doesnt get tagged by the Bills |
IIRC, the Bills are trying to get a deal done w/ Byrd... and if it doesn't get worked out they plan on tagging him |

Not keen on this at all. Yes he was awful this past year, but he has shown to be at least serviceable in the past. It seems like Delmas is our top target for replacement. Thats more of a lateral move imo, but what if we dont sign him? Byrd and Ward will get tagged or resigned. What does that leave in FA? Antone Bethea? Malcolm Jenkins? Those arent upgrades either, and dont look for a starter in the draft, unless we pick someone in the second round, which will take away from the many needs that we already have. Ill hold off final judgement until the end of the offseason, but this just seems like a desperate move from a desperate front office. _________________

I agree for the most part. Wouldve like to see if he could return to form, outside of last years he was always servicable at the very least. Could maybe see a guy like Chris Clemons as a signing. Terrence Brooks out of FSU would be a good draft option in the 4th (ish). |

I'm surprised by this. His contract really isn't anything crazy. Why not just let him play it out? Sure we could do better but we also could do a lot worse. _________________ XBL GT: L JGOLD L |

Decoud's performance was UNACCEPTABLE last year. ATL needs to move on. |

Yet his performance in 2012 was praised by most on this board. Delmas has been just as irradic during his tenure in Detroit. Just because it's shiny and new doesn't mean that it's better. _________________

I agree with Devils. Like I said in the other thread, this is a mistake and I don't think it's going to be all that easy to find an upgrade. I've seen a bunch of Falcon fans on twitter just assume that we sign Byrd. That isn't happening in a million years. _________________

I think we are all assuming that DeCoud would bounce back and prove something this season if we believe he is worth the money he costs, but he was a total liability last year except for that one forced fumble against the bucs. If he's hindering our secondary like he was last year then there's a dozen rookies that we could plug in and atleast develop with more upside. As was stated before he's about to turn 29 and his level of play seems to be on the decline. _________________ formerly MadAtFalcons

DeCoud had an avg season in 2012... still was a liability in coverage and still didn't know how to tackle. Yeah he went to the Pro Bowl but his play has seriously digressed. His only saving grace in '12 was that he was a ballhawk. This is why trading back makes so much sense. If we trade back and pick up extra mid rounders, maybe even a 2015 first, we can grab a FS early and still get a guy like Aaron Donald. |
