I trust Harbaugh's eye for QBs enough to be on board with him if he really likes a QB. If that means we spend a 2nd rounder on Garoppolo, so be it.

If it becomes apparent that Harbaugh really wants Garoppolo, I wouldn't be shocked if some other team drafts him pretty high to try to bait Harbaugh into coaching their team next year.

It's so easy, I should get paid to be an insider.

La Canfora and Florio also reports that the Raiders are interested in Kaep and Harb especially since they coveted Kaep a few years ago and Harbs was on their staff not too long ago. Oakland will forfeit any plans they have to share Levi's stadium with the 9ers if a trade is made...

any chance we take jimmy at 30? he looks really good and has my interest now...
I doubt we take him that high but with this draft being so deep at wr/db, quality players will still be available.

14.8% chance
41.4% chance we move up in rd 2 to select him

This is according to my sources from Allan Scheffler and Booby Hebbert on nflsportsinsideknowledge.com....

Depending on how the top of the draft shakes out, I could see him landing in the first round to be perfectly honest. I think it's just an outside chance, but I could see a scenario where it happens. That would be a crazy meteoric rise if it happens though. I think he and Carr are right on that outside line looking in right now, but teams can sometimes get a little shaky on draft night, and if a team who skipped quarterback at the top of round one gets nervous, I could see them bouncing back into round 1 to take him.

I do like that we worked him out; a little surprised that Harbaugh himself was there. Any chance he was actually there to see Colter and the Jimmy G was a smokescreen? Laughing

I wouldn't say I hate the idea of Jimmy G in the second, or heck, even in the first if management and Harbaugh is really sketchy on the long term viability of Kaepernick. Especially if we re-sign all of our free agents. Someone brought up the idea of Bridgewater falling and trading out of the spot and I said I actually wouldn't mind taking him ourselves if that happened (won't happened, but it was strictly hypothetical). Or maybe we'll be giving my QB moneyball idea a shot lol.

I'd be shocked if we went quarterback in the first two rounds, but it's not the worst idea ever. And I think Jim itches for new toys (which is why we get the backup quarterback merry-go-round). I'd probably prefer to sign a vet backup and draft a mid round developmental guy; still like Brett Smith for our offense, and I kind of dig Renner as a really late round or UDFA type guy.

As per @Eric_Branch the 49ers met with Mike Evans. This is a player I said would be a trade up target last month.

never knew we met with him..

Like I said in another thread, it wouldn't be ideal, but I wouldn't be mad if we traded up for Evans. I don't know if it would be possible at this point, though, because I see him going 9 to Buffalo.

Chris Borland, Jared Abbrederis continue to impress at pro day

http://blogs.nfl.com/2014/03/05/chris-borland-jared-abbrederis-continue-to-impress/

Jared Abbrederis, WR (he didn’t get measured or weighed) — Abbrederis stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine and just went through the positional drills. He worked out great, having a pro day that was classified as “great.” One of the Oakland Raiders scouts on hand for the pro day threw passes to Abbrederis, who ran good routes, displayed good speed and caught the ball well.

Dezmen Southward, FS (6-foot-0 7/8, 212) — Southward was in Indianapolis for the combine, but did not work out due to a medical exclusion. At Wisconsin’s pro day, he ran the 40 in 4.41 and 4.38 seconds (times that would have placed Southward at the top of his position group at the combine). He had a 42-inch vertical jump and a 10-4 broad jump (the vertical number would also have been the best among safeties at the combine). He had a 4.41-second short shuttle, a 11.50 60-yard long shuttle time, and did the three-cone drill in 6.73 and 6.50 seconds.

Well if we're not looking for a WR higher up he would be a great choice a bit lower down. Guy has moves; guy has hands.

Shaquille Richardson, CB (6-0 1/8, 194) — Richardson ran the 40 in 4.44 and 4.43 seconds. He had a 38 1/2-inch vertical and a 10-7 broad jump. He had a short shuttle time of 4.17 seconds and a three-cone time of 6.85 seconds. He had 14 reps on the bench press. He has long arms (32 inches), and the way NFL teams are trending toward bigger cornerbacks should work in Richardson’s favor. He could be a third-day draft choice.

Okay, so long arms, we have our pick, right there. And he comes from just outside of Compton. That's a n2te pick!
