How's Jabari Greer? I know he had the injury, but I feel like he could be a nice bounceback corner for a team like SD on a 1 year, prove it deal.

Roman Harper gets way too much hate on these forums. He's a MUCH better safety than Jenkins and is stout against the run and when blitzing. He'd be a great pickup for any team who wants a blitzing safety or a guy who plays well in the box. I'm really gonna miss him.

Smith, good riddance. Vilma, he'll be missed in the locker room, but that's it. Greer can be a good slot corner, but he's always dinged up.

I always thought he was average at best. But this last season he fell flat on his face. But his contract is up and I don't see the Bears bringing him back.

Always thought Smith was a good player, be interesting to see where he ends up.

That's a lot of veterans to lose on the defense.

2 of them contributed nothing this season. Smith was on IR from preseason, Vilma played 12 snaps in 1 game, inactive the rest.

I think Harper is an odd one where he's not a bad safety, he just doesn't really play like a guy you'd expect to be a 7 year starter for the same team, either. Just really...limited. And I don't know if I buy him as a good blitzer, necessarily. The trouble with rating safeties on something like that is that sacks and pressures and all come from opportunities as a blitzer. So, you kind of have to assume that they're blitzing a lot because they're good at it. But there were years were Harper grossly underperformed for the insane amount of times NO blitzed him.

Okay player. Not more, not less, to me.

None of the moves is surprising, and quite honestly, I think in all their cases, their name is bigger than their current game. They should all find jobs, but I think the Saints can successfully replace them all at a cheaper price point.

Will Smith shouldn't find a job. He's been washed up for a few years now. He's only stuck with the Saints because his dead money was way too high to do anything with.

If anyone expects anything more than a camp body from Smith, he'll be a disappointment.

Harper can be a depth player for sure, can even step in as a starter for a few games if need be.

Greer can be a starter, but he's fragile. Maybe 15-20 snaps per game, he'd be good for that.

Vilma is an odd one, he's an outstanding leader but I don't know if he has anything left in the tank. Whether or not he deserves a roster spot depends on who you have at MLB and what kind of leadership you already have in place.

He was serviceable in 2012, brutal in 2013. No sense in the passing game and a terrible tackler to boot. Just a bad, bad player last year.

McClellin is simply not very good. He is not big enough or strong enough to play at the NFL level. The Bears should move on.

Sounds like Malcolm Jenkins. Showed potential and then fell on his face and turned into Malcolm Stankins. (Which is what he's unlovingly referred to as in the Saints forum.)

Not that the whole story is being told, but statistically Major Wright didn't have a bad season.

more to the point though: Even if Wright isn't as good as some people say, I doubt replacing him with Roman Harper would be the...Wright move. Cool

Harper would make sense for the eagles. Let them go BPA in the draft. Even though I imagine one of those BPA's becomes a safety that makes him expendable sooner than not.

I could have swore Roman Harper had one really good year.
