Original Picks

1.16
2.15
3.14
4.19
5.18
7.14
7.16
7.26

Trade 1:Dallas trades 1.16(1000) to Philly for 1.22(780) +3.22(160) +4.22(58.1)
Philly wants to move up to take Mike Evans WR, since Cooper and Maclin are both FA's.

Picks after trade:
1.22(PHI)
2.15
3.14
3.22(PHI)
4.19
4.22(PHI)
5.18
7.14
7.16
7.26

1.22(PHI) Zack Martin, G/OT, Notre Dame
Reason: Fits a need, since Free will be gone after this season. Can play RG this year.
**Trade 2: Washington trades 2.2(560) +6.2(26.6) to Dallas for 2.15(430) + 3.22(160)
Without a first round pick, Washington needs players. Dallas doesn't believe Donald will make it to pick 15.**
2.2(WAS) Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
Reason: Perfect 3 in Kiffin/Marinelli scheme.
3.14 Kareem Martin, DE, North Carolina
Reason: Gives us a big bodied athletic guy at DE.
4.19 Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois
Reason: Small safety with good coverage skills.
4.22(PHI) Terrance West, RB, Towson
Reason: Small school RB with good size and production.
5.18 James Gayle, DE/OLB, Virginia Tech
Reason: Another DE with pass rush ability to add to the mix.
7.14 Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley
Reason: Small school WR with all the physical gifts.
7.16 Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State
Reason: Punter, we need a punter.
7.23 Kareem Edwards, G, Tennessee State
Reason: Development guy. Hopefully could develop into a solid backup at G/C.

Begin throwing tomatoes....now!

Those first four picks are probably too good to be true. Ward, IMO, doesn't make it out of the 2nd round. But landing those first 3 would make me quite the happy camper.

I would be thrilled with this draft but it is probably too good to be true. Any thought given to flip flopping the Donald and Martin picks?

I would try and target Caraun Reid (DT) he's the guy that I really hope the Cowboys can draft he reminds me a lot like Leon Lett.

Sorry, haven't seen any game footage, or don't know much about him to make a judgement call.

I think Martin at #22 is a possibility, but not in the 2nd. Because of his height, Donald is less likely to go to a 3-4 team, here's how i saw it playing out for him.

23. Kansas City Chiefs 3-4 Unlikely
24. Cincinnati Bengals 4-3 Have Atkins & took D.Still & B. Thompson in the 2nd and 3rd round 2 years ago.
25. San Diego Chargers 3-4 Unlikely
26. Cleveland Browns# 3-4 Unlikely
27. New Orleans Saints 3-4 Unlikely
28. Carolina Panthers Took Star Lotulelei and K. Short last year.
29. New England Patriots Hybrid. A possibility
30. San Francisco 49ers 3-4 Unlikely
31. Denver Broncos 13-3 4-3 Took S.Williams last year. Could take him.
32. Seattle Seahawks 4-3 hybrid. A slight possibility.
33. Texans 3-4 Unlikely.

Kareem Martin. I went by CBS rankings and mock drafts. Most have him in the mid 3rd to 4th. I don't see where that's unrealistic.

Jimmy Ward in the 4th may be a slight stretch, but safeties tend to drop, especially undersized ones.

Terrance West in the 4th seems about right to me.

James Gayle in the 5th is what most sites are projecting.

"Not meant directly at you Northland, just everyone in general." Please if you're gonna say I'm crazy about where a player goes, have an argument to back it up.

I am thinking that Donald is going to test very well which will drive up his stock and a run on DL will start, so not sure if he would be available in the 2nd. But who knows? Last year all we heard was OG's don't get taken high and what two of them went in the top 10.

I like your draft. I'd be doing cartwheels. Good rationale as to why you think Donald will drop to early 2nd. I just don't know but that's the beauty of draft discussions - anything can happen.

You, me, Kiper, and McShay are all just farting in the wind right now. The combine, injuries, and off the field stuff from now til the draft will blow everything up anyway. Even with my rationale, I know that a lot of those teams won't be in those spots anyway. Just entertaining and wishing in this dreary winter offseason.

It is a nice dream draft...just dont think Martin Donald and Ward will be there when Dallas picks...i think Donald is just too good not to take at 16 if he is there.

Peace
