particularly disappointing as after the first one he was openly quoted as saying he saw it as a wake up call and was dedicated to it not happening again.

ooops.

Maybe it wasn't a mistake. Perhaps he was still drunk when he gave the first statement... and was just drunk rambling about wake up calls. Wink

Thank the lord. Worst starter on the worst defense in the NFL on top of the fact that he always felt it was him against the world. Good riddance.

Chad Greenway, Josh Robinson and Letroy Guion actually graded out as considerably worse players than Henderson. I dont think he is terrible, but the scheme he played in didnt do him any favors.

I hope Detroit signs him.

The Lions have no need for him with Levy and Tulloch.

I wish him the best. Hopefully he cleans up his off the field behavior and can stick on somewhere else. The Vikings are better off getting younger and more athletic to take their defense to the next level.

Of the Vikings Linebackers, I actually felt the most comfortable with Erin Henderson as the starter in Mike Zimmer's defense. He actually fits pretty nicely at WLB as a down hill run stuffer. Henderson was lousy in space but seemed to be pretty solid at the line of scrimmage and in the run game.

Henderson really didnt have an expensive contract so I am inclined to believe that he was let go due to his arrests during the season.

Take away his off the field issues, how is Henderson at this point in his career simply on the field? I'd love for Vikes fans to fill me in (or anyone thats seen enough of him) on how his play has been as of late..

Henderson can play MLB or WLB, but his lack of range and ability to play in space becomes more apparent at MLB. He is best suited to play WLB. In Minnesota, he was at his best at WLB, a position in which required him to take on blocks (for the MLB and SLB to clean up), set the edge and mainly be a run first player.

Henderson's biggest struggles came in pass coverage where he is bad. He also struggles against athletic QBs and elusive RBs. He just isnt a good player in space and is very rigid athletically. He is a pretty physical and aggressive run defender who needs to be a two down player. He never did much to stand out but was fairly steady at WLB.

I dont see a future for him at MLB.

many a time an opposing team would get around our 8-12 yard line or so and call a pass play in the middle. it would have some misdirection to it and the replay would show Henderson lost in space as the receiver crosses the goal line.

he just can't react fast enough to dependably stop plays like that, and opposing offensive coordinators knew it.

put him in situations where he had to stop short runs and he was much more effective. he would even get an occasional sack or tackle for loss in the backfield, but in pass coverage.... yikes.

Watch him whiff on this play. I'm sure Zimmer saw that!

Hopefully this means Gerald Hodges can step up. Loved him as a prospect.
