Quote: | Of course, Erin Henderson also made the Vikings’ decision easy for them.
The team announced they had released the veteran linebacker Friday. |
After two arrests. This happens a lot with new head coaches. Come in and get rid of guys who might be trouble. 100+ tackles and among the league leaders at LB in tackle for loss. Saves 2 million in cap space. _________________

Good. He sucks, has an attitude problem, and has off the field problems. Definitely over-welcomed his stay here. _________________

Also, this puts us in the market for an ILB unless they think Mike Mauti is ready to go. _________________

Most Vikings fans will support this move. He really isn't a bad player, but he was always a poor fit in Mns cover two scheme. I felt Henserson wouldn't be a bad fit for Zimmer as a down hill run stuffer but its obvious mn has had enough with his off the field issues.
Henderson was benched last year for Audie Cole. _________________

Yeah not gonna miss him. He's a stiff runner and is horrible in coverage. He may have a lot of tackles but he isn't actually making plays. I'd take Cole over him and I hope that Mauti gets a shot and proves his worth. |

Always thought of him as a decent player. Still if he has off-field issues I think that's going to score lots of teams off. _________________ I bought one of those tapes to teach you Spanish in your sleep. During the night, the tape skipped. Now I can only stutter in Spanish.

Agreed, Henderson is a decent player. His best role is as a two down run stuffer at WLB.
I think he can be a solid MLB but he is poor playing in space and has very limited range.
Given his character concerns, he wont get a big contract from anyone. But the ability is there if you want a player who can fill in at WLB on a part time basis. _________________

i feel like he is good enough to get a job soon, he might not be a good player but he is worth a spot on the 53 i would think _________________

2 DUI's in the course of a month. The guy will be lucky if a judge doesn't give him jail time (probably only 30 days, but 2nd DUI in most states is a jail-eligible offense) and even then if the court doesn't throw the book at him the league will. Both of these will fall under the substance abuse policy, so he's going to go into this season carrying a suspension where leniency on an appeal isn't going to be likely because of how close together the two incidents are.
I honestly won't be surprised if he's not even on a camp roster - similar to Larry Grant last year. _________________

particularly disappointing as after the first one he was openly quoted as saying he saw it as a wake up call and was dedicated to it not happening again.
ooops. _________________

I remember a couple of years ago, Henderson was looking to strike it big with a long-term deal. MN refused and they settled on a cheap, two year prove it type deal. He surely wont ever see a long-term contract, if a team is even willing to give him a chance. Henderson is still young, and he can be an effective part time contributor if a team is willing to risk his DUI concerns. _________________

Wouldn't mind the ravens bringing the former terp back to the area to play inside along with Arthur brown (if Daryl smith signs elsewhere). |

He should get a job no doubt. He's not totally awful.
He's versatile, relatively young and has made plays for this team these past few years. I could see him getting a good backup job soon enough.
but, he's purely a two down Linebacker. 3rd down passing situations is not where you want him. _________________
