ESPN's John Clayton reports LaMont Jordan will sign a five-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.
The deal, which will completed by Thursday at the earliest, would pay Jordan more than $4 million a year: starter money. The Jets offered Jordan $3 million a year, a huge offer considering he'd be a backup, but apparently not enough. We think Jordan will get 300+ carries in Oakland and be a top 15 RB. This is great news, but what kind of calculator do the Raiders have to be able to do all of this??? They were supposed to be one of the worst teams in the league as far as cap space, yet they deal Harris for Moss, sign Porter to $20 million or so and Jordan to $27 million.
For an offense that looked to be in big trouble a few weeks ago (no RB, and Porter possibly on his way out), it is going to be FUN to watch!!!

Oakland knows how to use the signings of players from a few years ago to big contracts...Gannon, Parella, Wheatley and work the cap. We need a OLB and a vet safety.....then get the best OLB (Blackstock) in the 2nd round or best DE available.

Love the trade for Moss and the signing of Lamont!! Moss, Porter and Curry, prevent teams from putting 8 guys in the box. Gallery, Grove and crew should be able to blow open huge wholes for Lamont.

The question now is what can the Raiders get for Woodson if they trade him. If they get a decent 1st rounder they could potentially land a quality DE or OLB. As a Notre Dame fan, I would love to see Justin Tuck in Silver and Black or if Darryl Blackstock (doubt it though since his "stock is rising") falls to them that would be awesome too. I have also heard good things about Matt Roth (Iowa), Dan Cody (OK) or Erasmus James (Wisconsin) and would not mind any of those guys falling to them. Ahhhh... lots of dreams!

As for safety, I think that Stuart Schweigert can be a decent player. Sure he made some mistakes, but he was a rookie.

I think LaMont Jordan will be a pro bowler next season. No one will be able to stack the line of scrimmage with Randy Moss, Jerry Porter and Ronald Curry running downfield. I think Jordan will rack up 16 or 17 rushing touchdowns, and have some of the biggest outings of the year.
