Patriots draft

Round 1 (Pick #29): Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State
Round 2 (Pick #53): Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State
Round 3 (Pick #93): Chris Smith, DE, Arkansas
Round 4 (Pick #109): Trai Turner, OG, LSU
Round 4 (Pick #126): Robert Herron, WR, Wyoming
Round 6 (Pick #171): David Fales, QB, San Jose State
Round 6 (Pick #182): Crockett Gillmore, TE, Colorado State
Round 6 (Pick #184): Ben Gardner, DE, Stanford

Pretty damn good if you ask me, great work team.

My own grades, 2 first round guys (Jernigan, Richburg), 2 second round guys (Smith, Herron), a 3rd (Turner), and 3 4ths (Fales, Gillmore, Gardner).

I've been following this thread to see how this would unfold. Awesome job! I would have liked to see a TE drafted a bit higher, but if this draft were to happen, I'd absolutely love it. Great job to everyone involved.

Thanks man.

Yeah, the Tight End situation is going to be an interesting one to follow when the actual draft comes around. In our case we brought in Anquan Boldin via Free Agency and he can play a role similar role to a split End who can exploit the soft coverages so we weren’t planning on going all out to land one. Even so, it still makes sense to go D-line in the first round (if unable to trade down, which we were), because in a fairly stacked class you would think someone will drift down to our direction. However, once we got to our second round pick, that cluster of Amaro, Niklas and ASJ were all off the board (IIRC) as they probably will be in the actual draft. Even if one of those three were there, I still think we grab Richburg (had to trade up a couple of spots to land him) in that scenario as I think he’s a borderline first round talent as a position where we have no discernable talent. Outside of CJ Fiedorowicz, who might not be much more than an exceptional blocker – there’s a bit of a drop to the next talent at that position.

We signed Storm Johnson (RB) and Gator Hoskins (TE) in the first round of UDFA. Of our other targets, Ryan Grant, Nevin Lawson, Bennett Jackson are off the board. Round 2 Jemea Thomas (S), Deion Belue (CB), and Marquis Spruill (LB). Round 3 Damian Copeland (WR), Chris Burnette (OG), and Laurent Duverney Tardif (OT), and Zach Bauman (RB)
