@nickdapick36 Who's looking for a top notch free safety. This kid is ready to dominate #2014

September of 2011 is the last time he stepped foot on the field before suffering a neck injury that I'm sure 99% of people thought he would never come back from.

It will be interesting to see how this develops.

I still think he's a long-shot to return. Maybe a team will give him a look but even if it is safe for him to play, being out of the game for 2 years has to have taken a toll on his playing ability.

Plan B if the Bills part with Jairus Byrd, Collins would be good for youngsters Duke Williams and Jonathon Meeks

I'd like the Vikes to take a look at him and move Harrison Smith over to SS, it really couldn't be worse than what they put next to him this past year.

Some team will give him a shot in training camp.

But it is interesting and worrisome because he plays a position where you have to hit. The fact that he wants to come back must mean that the chances of him re-injuring his neck are slim. If he's willing to come back and assuming hes been given the all-clear.

No he hasn't been given any all clear. This is only a tweet from a guy acting like a twit. He's done. If he could play, he'd be playing for the Packers. If he was cleared, the first team to be interested would be the Packers.

Collins needs to move on with his life and find a different career.

That's good for him. I hope his local area flag football team is looking for an ex-NFL safety.

I see two scenarios, He's cleared and comes back to the Packers (1%), he's not medically cleared and stays retired (99%). He's my favorite player to play in the last few years, he was essentially Earl Thomas when it clicked for him in 2008, if he was OK to play some team would have signed him after he was cut, but he never even got a physical. It's truly unfortunate, but unless something has medically changed, he's done.

I hope the best for him, but anyone assuming that it's a given he makes a roster (let alone, have an impact on the field) is delusional. It's possible, but I wouldn't put money down on it.

And to the guy saying "anything" is better than DeCoud....while DeCoud may not be good, the severity of Collins' injury is nothing to ignore. It's possible that DeCoud is actually a better option than Collins at this stage, but we won't know until he gives it a shot. If he does make a return, I'll be one of the guys cringing every time I see him make contact.

Some of you saying he isnt coming back, you mean he wont make a 53 or he wont even sign on in the offseason and be on the 90 main roster or whatever it is? I'm sure someone will give him a shot, maybe the Vikings since they always pursue ex-Packers

Nobody is giving him any kind of chance. He's never going to get cleared to sign a contract with a team. This wasn't an injury where time was was going to make it less likely he would get reinjured. He wasn't cleared back in 2012 and won't be cleared now.

His career is over.
