Even though the staff is thin, just post the trades for everybody to mull over. You'll get a pretty good response. Same for the draft.

People don't want to commit time, but most enjoy adding their opinion.

Cody, we’d like you to rejoin us here in Pittsburgh. We believe you can build upon your strong play as our backup Center and possibly compete for a starting job here. While you lack experience as a starter and an NFL player alike you have shown promise and this contract offer reflects that.

Troy, as it has been stated very clearly in the recent past we want you to retire with the Pittsburgh Steelers. At the same time, we want to be able to improve our ability to improve the team around you and hopefully allow you to get out with yet another Lombardi Trophy. In order to do that, we feel that we have to reduce the overall cost of our veterans nearing the end of their careers. Our following offer which would extend your contract through 2015 reflects that. We absolutely believe you can still be an effective player for us, but I think we can also both agree that health has not been on your side and the downward slope has begun. We want you hear and hope that you choose to remain here.

Troy Extension
2 yr / 4.5 million extension (11,887,500 guaranteed) , kind of turns out to be all fully guaranteed because it costs money to Cut him in every year

turn his 10,887,500 into Bonus over 3 yrs left (2014 + 2 yr extension) = 3,629,167 per yr bonus

yr 1: 1 mill base / 3,629,167 bonus = 4,629,167 Cap Hit (11,887,500 1st yr)
yr 2: 1.5 Base / 3,629,167 Bonus = 5,129,167 cap hit

Jason Worilds resign

6 yr / 36 million / 8 Mill signing Bonus / 12 mill Guaranteed (Bonus + 1st, and 2nd yr) , Connor Barwin similar contract

yr 1: 1.5 mill Base / 1.6 mill Bonus = 3.1 cap hit (9.5 million yr 1)
yr 2: 2.5 base / "" Bonus = 4.1 cap hit
yr 3: 4 base / "" Bonus = 5.6 cap hit
yr 4: 5 Base / "" Bonus = 6.6 Cap hit

Try to keep it open (non-pm). Although someone might use info against you, this is for fun and measures to keep secrecy are sorta frowned upon.

When it comes to the draft, I'd say keep 'intent' discussion via pm.

If it's strictly topical opinion, keep it in the thread imo. I mean there's nothing wrong with pm's but use your judgement. If it's something that another GM can use against you or w/e you probably shouldn't post it publically.

I mean keep in mind, it's a fun "competition", as stated above, it's kind of 'frowned' upon to be "secret" but at the same time, there are some things that should only be discussed behind closed doors.

As far as the google doc, there isn't a rule against it that I saw.

Ok on the depth chart

may I ask why the Beachum and Mike Adams switch? ... I believe beachum has earned the right to stay at LT unless a sure fire upgrade comes along...
Mike Adams should win the RT , and is a mauler in the run game ... Should imrpove the run game having Adams and DeCastro on the right side

Terrance Garvin should be backup to Timmons, not at Buck

on the Pouncey thing

I'm on the try to trade him , as you know , but my reasons are saves roughly 4 mill on the cap , and should be able to get good return on him ... Of course not trade him for peanuts , depends what we can get back

Womp womp womp ... Crickets in here

so WWH and Jeb what are you thoughts on switching to a 4-3 defense?
slide troy down to OLB ... Woodley can play DE ... And can resign Hood and Woods for cheap contracts and both would probably fit better in the 4-3 DT role
also Spence can come back healthy the OLB spot is his after next yr and troy contract is up... Also Garvin would seem to fit better as a 4-3 OLB

if we stay in 3-4 resigning woirlds should be a priority and something we can get enough cap room to do

No. The Steelers have been doing the 3-4 defense for 31 years. It has too many advantages over the 4-3. They do not have a MLB on the roster. THey need another DE if you move Woodley to one of them.
