2 Dozier
3 Gaines

So whats the verdict? Trade down or stay put and pick....who is the question in pt. 2

It's either that or they're looking at Will Sutton, but I'm not sure I could imagine playing him at DE even in an odd-alignment.

As far as verdict, we've had three names thrown out so far, barring any others, I'll call for a vote:

Dakota Dozier (OG)
EJ Gaines (CB)
Chris Smith (OLB)

I'm between Gaines and Dozier, especially with us already taking an OLB already and some potential developmental guys available later. I haven't seen Dozier play, but i really like how Gaines fits with us, so he's probably my choice at this point.

And I'm at
1) Dozier
2) Gaines
3) Smith

I'm a massive EJ Gaines fan, but I'm looking at how our defensive scheme functions - we need guys with fluid hips, good instincts, and quick back-pedals (that's what got Cox killed as his backpedal and transition speed were God awful, so the cushion we had him playing with got chewed up really quickly, and he was cycling into 1st gear as the WR was hitting 2nd gear).

And there a good chunk of those guys available on Day 3, that get undervalued because of less than ideal height.

Went with the old maxim: "When in doubt... TRENCHES!"

We has a Bull Dozier now.

Also, Duffy - http://draftbreakdown.com/video/dakota-dozier-vs-clemson-2012/

I can deal with that. After watching that video though, i'm not a huge fan. Granted this was early last year, so i want to see this year and see if he's improved on stuff.

But two big flaws i saw with Dozier, is that he's not good blocking on the run, really struggled there, and will have to completely rework that part of his game (something that is absolutely ESSENTIAL in our scheme), and his handwork is awful, constantly is putting hands outside the frame of his guy and gets really grabby when blocking on the move especially.

Guy's still raw, no doubt. But upside wise, he's really not that far off from Jonathan Cooper - and like Cooper he's been discussed as a possible eventual move to center.

I'm still trying to track down tape of him from the Shrine game, but it was insane to think that that was the first time he'd slotted in as a guard in his playing career and he took to it naturally, like he'd been playing the position for years. Guy's also a former wrestler (and, if I'm not mistaken, a championship level one at that), and we know how Joe D likes long arms.

Keep in mind he was playing LT in that video.

On the clock again. Who are you guys thinking? Vic Hampton and Terrance Mitchell are around if you guys like either at CB. Develop James Hurst into the LT of the future?

Bruce Ellington also seems like a perfect fit for us.

I'm partial to Mitchell or Rashad Reynolds. Either works for me.

I got a final in about 40 minutes so i'm not gonna be on much/any longer so either one of those is my vote.

Hampton is really talented... and really angry - like to the point that it could be an issue and that it gives him solid bust potential.

Thank God Breeland's gone because he has a ton of potential but he's terrible in off-man, and I mean terrible.

I like Rashaad Reynolds a lot here. Instinct and hips make productive corners - he's got both in spades. The knock on him is that he lacks the size/strength to make plays in the backfield - which is fine because when was the last time you remember Pagano sending a corner blitz (moreover Steve Williams actually showed a talent for this at Cal so I'm not worried here)? Our corners get played off-man more than anything, there's far less asking of them to make plays in the backfield.

I realize it doesn't help us a ton this year, but I'm not opposed to red-shirting Aaron Colvin a year (or half a season) and having him good to go in 2015.

But I think my vote would go to Reynolds here.

Jets are offering CB Kyle Wilson for this pick. Let me know.

1 year of Kyle Wilson vs. 4 years of whatever rookie we'd draft here?

Pass times 100.

Colvin will probably still be there in a few rounds. He was basically a 4th round talent before injury IMO.

Reynolds would be fine

Bruce Ellington is a no brainer in my mind.
