It's now very obvious that most of these NFL writers either have a PFF subscription or read the weekly features. Five years ago a DT with 3.5 sacks would have never won ROY. Sign of the times.

(Not implying he didn't deserve it in any way)

PFF had Desmond Trufant as their DROY.

I'm just pointing out they pull a lot of their information and form their opinions off their website. Not saying they look at the ranking, "Oh, PFF picked this guy." I'm sure they pour over the numbers and pick 'their guy' based on their preferences/bias, etc.

Good call.

About half the people on this forum were saying the same thing though.

And they were dead wrong as well. But they're not so called "draft experts".

Eh. It was a real head scratcher at the time. I loved Richardson but the Jets already had a good DL and tons of needs on offense. Obviously, it worked out though.

Thought Kiko would have won based on stats, but well deserved

Draft experts are wrong all the time. Mayock had Blaine Gabbert as his number 1 over Cam Newton.

That's what I'm saying. They're not experts. There's a difference between being knowledgeable and being an expert.
Who are the experts then? Actual NFL scouting departments are wrong all the time.

Congrats to Richardson! He had a monster year.

I would have liked to see Ziggy Ansah get at least a vote, but he can use that as motivation for next year instead.

The draft guys aren't the best but I'm sure they watch a lot more film than anyone on this site. Problem is they have to put themselves out there and tell the whole world their picks. They have preferences and things that they like and :gasp: they get things wrong sometimes. People mess up, and the draft isn't exactly something that one can be perfect at. GMs and scouts do it for a living and they mess up all the time.

Not only that but they also have to be bold/controversial. No one wants to hear, "Well Mike the Richardson pick was in interesting one, probably the best player on the board but the Jets have more needs. Lets see how this plays out in three years." Not as interesting as, "LOL JETS DRAFTING, CUE THE MONTAGE."

He is definitely deserving but I'd personally still take Kiko. To bad that can't give out two awards. Both are very deserving.
