Except it wasn't Jerry's call to bring in Linehan. It was Jason's.

Don't want to hate on the Cowboys but this seems really weird. Keeping both Co-ordinators but demoting them? I don't get it.

Callahan was our OC/O-line coach last season. Our OL was actually a strength last season after years of that not being the case. It's not really known how much input Callahan had on that area, or if assistant OL coach Frank Pollak handled those duties more - but you'd think with him coming back that must have been an area he had a large impact on.

Kiffin isn't really being demoted, yes he's losing the DC title but in a sense he's actually getting a promotion after being named the assistant HC and will be helping Marinelli continue to install and teach the Tampa-2.

That and detroits offense gas been pretty explosive over the years despite one viable receiving target, zero quality running backs(sans bush for ONE year, AND a young/developing qb....I want to see what this guy can do with a little more depth on offense before I jump to conclusions and call linehan "hot garbage" lol

Based on an article I read, Linehan was a comprise pick. According to the article, there was internal debate about the direction of the offense, and Garrett picked Linehan because he worked with him before. In other words, it wasn't like Garrett had complete freedom to choose whomever he wanted. If he did, he probably still be calling the plays.

At this point if there's an internal debate--and Garrett is the one calling for more balance, while Jone's is fine with a pass-heavy offense--Jones should just get rid of Garrett. (Or Garrett should resign.)
