As a huge UW fan, I've followed Donald Butler's career with the Chargers closely and he has been everything I've expected and more at the NFL level. Per this article in the SDUT, the Chargers and Butler are set to resume contract talks sometime after the Super Bowl.

What do you think Butler will command in terms of a contract? Is there any chance, with Te'o in the fold, that the Chargers might not re-sign Butler?

Green Bay could surely use an upgrade at ILB next to Hawk Wink

Butler will no doubt attempt to get top dollar. His play and leadership abilities help justify this. He does however have a problem staying healthy which will reduce his asking price. He is our top priority to resign and the drafting of Te'o has no impact what so ever in resigning him.

He is an integral part of this defense and I hope he is back in a bolt uniform. We aren't in the position where we can outbid for his services though so we'll see what happens. I would expect a contract similar to Ellerbees averaging around 7m/season.

I'm actually expecting a contract that mirrors Sean Lee's - which also has an addendum that ties the guarantees on his money to his health (i.e. ability to dress for X amount of games). I don't believe the team has an issue guaranteeing him a large sum of his total contract, as he's worth it, provided he is actually healthy enough to contribute on the field consistently.

Thanks for the insight, guys. I expect him back with the Bolts as well. Happy to see him succeed, especially on the Chargers, for whom I've always had a soft spot.
