Thought we'd start this a little earlier than past years.

Just posting the mock drafts listed here, to see which one of us armchair GM's gets nearest to reality. Last years champ was IIRC 'INBengal'........

As usual, First prize is a dog chewed copy of the 1993 Bengals v Rams 'Gameday' programme; (my first visit to Riverfront); which I will happily mail to absolutely anywhere on the British mainland.

(Watching the 'Probowl' last night with the good Mrs 'Londonbengal', she thought we'd traded AJ Green; (her favourite NFL player); to 'Team Sanders'.......bless..........)............

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT.

AS AN EXTRA WRINKLE THIS YEAR, i'LL ADD AN HALF POINT TO FOLKS WHO SELECT THE RIGHT POSITION AT ANY GIVEN PICK, BUT GET THE WRONG PLAYER. (MORE CHANCES TO SCORE.....)

So lets say I called the Bengals drafting Aaron Murray in the 5th round, but instead they draft him in the 3rd round. Does that still count?

My dream draft..

1. QB Derek Carr (I will take any of the top 4 QB's that fall as I think 1 will be available for us, most likely Carr)
2. OC Marcus Martin (Athletic C that would be an instant upgrade)
3. CB Keith McGill (A step up from anyone on the roster not named Leon or Dre)
4. DE Jeoffrey Pagan (Big DE that can rotate in to DT)
5. WR Donte Moncrief (We need a big WR that can line up opposite of AJ)
6. DT Deandre Coleman (Late round depth pick)
7. WR Kain Colter

Yeah need a little clarification on the rules.

In the past we've had a point system. Something like:

Guess exact pick - 10 points
Guess correct position - 5 points
Guess correct player in wrong round - 3 points

I made those up, but now that i threw it out there it'll probably stick.

Remember, this is a very lame deal.......

The way I scored this (based on a draft of 7 picks), was to give 7 points to getting the R1 pick right, 6 points for the 2nd rounder etc etc, down to 1 point for a 7th rounder. If you get the right guy in the wrong round, you get half the entitled points. If we get any comp picks or trades etc and end up with 10 picks, then guessing the 1st rounder scores 10 points etc etc.

If anyone can suggest a better scoring system, I'm cool with anything that doesn't involve algorythyms or anything complicated.

Happy to let 'J' make the final decision if necessary.

FWIW, I think this thing makes all the mock drafts a little more realistic, because you have to call WHO YOU THINK THE BENGALS WILL DRAFT, rather than who you personally would draft. Its also worth remembering that The Bengals are one of the least 'active' teams in the NFL at trading up or down, so they are likely to pick 7 straight with their own picks.

(Not to pick on 'C4MVP' particularly; but purely as an example; he would probably think about trading the farm and going up to go get a top 5 QB; but with this little competition, you have to focus on what you think the team will do. Last year for example from memory, Dave Lapham was the only guy calling the Eifert pick; most of us wanted Elam or Cyprien).

So by all means post your own mock or 'dream' draft, but this deal here is all about guessing what the team will do draft wise.

Under my scoring system, you get 3 points for guessing the 5th rounder right, but half those points for the wrong guy, so you get 1 and a half points total for the Murray scenario above.......

Oh no, this is your thing. Don't make it mine. Your point system sounds ok to me.

Just checked the rules on this one 'INB'.

Article 7.17.4 clearly states US Military bases in Britain are considered US Sovereign territory; not part of the UK mainland; and are therefore voided for winning prizes in competitions on-line or through any media.

Good try.......

Not sure I can handle the responsibility...... LOL !

(Just thinking out loud 'J', it would be an interesting thing for each team across 'FF' to run this sort of competition, to see if there is anyone on FF who gets even close to nailing any teams draft. I don't think any one contributor in our forum has ever picked more than 2 players right in any draft.......

'INB'; I only have 1 x Bengals v Rams 1993 Gameday.

You'll have to make do with one of Jags @ Chiefs 2002, Bills @ Jets 1997, Pats @ Chargers 1996, Chiefs @ Raiders 2004, Panthers @ 49ers 1996, Chargers @ Seahawks 1994; (rare, as the game was played @ 'Husky Stadium' due to the hole in the 'Kingdome' roof); a Broncos 1996 Media guide, or a copy of 'Two Feet Equals One Knee' by John Madden for your second prize.

I have a collection of over 50 NFL Gameday programmes from my travels in the USA, but those listed above are the most damaged. Just thought you ought to know they are all quality prizes; (honestly).

I keep the good stuff.
