Ladies and 'gents, this section of FFMD is where you'll be bidding on the most talented free agents available. These are the guys that turn you from pretenders to contenders. It's your job to convince your target's agent that your destination is the spot to be. Free agency is an exciting time in FFMD, make sure you and your team are on the same page.

32 of the premier free agents of the 2014 class and are going to be assigned agents who will decide what is best for their client. A combination of

Official Rules - There are 7. If you follow 6, you make the decision for us quite easy!
1.) There is no minimum # of years you must offer (1 year contracts will be frowned upon), but the maximum # of years is 5.

2.) The "market" has been set for these free agents. The AAV (average annual value) of these contracts are expected to be within 10% of this range. For example, if John Doe's market is set at 10 million, contracts with an AAV between 9.1 million and 11 million will be considered appropriate contracts and will be taken under consideration.

3.) Pitches may be no longer than 500 words in length, excluding the actual contract offer (see below). Pitch your city, pitch your team, pitch the role your player will play on your team, pitch your coaches. All things will be considered.

4.) The contract offers should be reported as below:

Player Name
Player Position
Years/Total Money, Signing Bonus, Guaranteed Salary

Year 1: Salary, Signing Bonus, Roster Bonus (if applicable)
Year 2: Salary, Signing Bonus, Roster Bonus (if applicable)
so and on so forth.

5.) You have three contract types you can offer: front loaded, flat, or backloaded. The raises (or declines in the case of the frontloaded deals) can NOT exceed 15%.

In simplest terms... Total salaries may only increase by 15% each year. This INCLUDES the signing bonus.

The ONLY exception is a roster bonus. That roster bonus may be included WITHOUT impacting the 15% increase.

Here's an example:

Quote:
Increasing
3 years, $24,862,500
5 million salary, 2.5 million SB = Cap Hit -> 7.5 million
5.75 million salary, 2.5 million SB
6.6125 million salary, 2.5 million SB

Flat
3 years, $24,862,500
5.7875 million salary, 2.5 million SB = Cap Hit -> 8.2875 million
5.7875 million salary, 2.5 million SB
5.7875 million salary, 2.5 million SB

Decreasing
3 years, $24,862,500
6.6125 million salary, 2.5 million SB = Cap Hit -> 8.1125 million
5.75 million salary, 2.5 million SB
5 million salary, 2.5 million SB

Basically, you get three types of contracts you can offer.

You may offer roster bonuses, but the total amount of roster bonuses may not exceed 10% of the total value of the contract and any individual roster bonus in a year may not exceed 5 million.

For example, John Doe sign a five year, 120 million contract. That means up to 12 million may be counted as a roster bonus. Remember, no more than 5M can be applied to any one year. Because of the maximum 5 million, a 5 million roster bonus MUST appear in Year 1 or Year 2. The other 7 million can be roster bonus in Year 3, 4, or 5, so long as it doesn't exceed 5 million in any given year.

So here's a proposal given a flat contract.

Quote:
Cowboys offer QB John Doe a 5 year contract worth 120 million, 35 million in signing bonus

Year 1: 14.6 million salary, 7 million SB
Year 2: 14.6 million salary, 7 million SB, 5 million roster bonus
Year 3: 14.6 million salary, 7 milllion, SB, 2 million RB
Year 4: 14.6 million salary, 7 Million SB, 5 million RB
Year 5: 14.6 million salary, 7 million SB

6.) The percentage of the desired contract you are able to go over or under will be broken down by tier of free agent in the following fashion. That is, the yearly average must be within 10% of the comparable contract:

Quote:
1st Tier Free Agents: 10%
2nd Tier Free Agents: 15%
3rd Tier Free Agents: 15%
4th Tier Free Agents: 15%

7.) PMs sent to the appropriate agent with the format below:

FFMD: Team Name-Position-Player

Ex: FFMD: Browns-QB-John Doe

Failure to do so will result in the deletion of the PM, and thus ineligibility to sign said player.

8.) Decision. At the end the agent will have two decisions. Either accept a bid, or move into the shark tank. If a situation arises where all the bids exceed the "fair market value", than the agent will PM the teams involved in the bidding to resubmit a new offer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE

Alterraun's cap numbers are still off. While he's definitely interested in the Giants, the repeatedly off contract numbers void his contract. He will be accepting offers until the end of tier 2 today.

The Giants are free to submit a new offer, as are the rest of you.

Verner was extremely disappointed with the market for him the first time around, he hopes for better this time.

My client, Eugene Monroe, has reached a decision. He has agreed to sign with...

The Miami Dolphins

Quote:
5 Yrs/$46.7M , $12M Signing Bonus , $23.5M Guaranteed

Year 1: $5.4M Base + $2.4M Bonus = $7.8M Cap Hit
Year 2: $6.1M Base + $2.4M Bonus = $8.5M Cap Hit
Year 3: $6.9M Base + $2.4M Bonus = $9.3M Cap Hit
Year 4: $7.7M Base + $2.4M Bonus = $10.1M Cap Hit
Year 5: $8.6M Base + $2.4M Bonus = $11.0M Cap Hit

Totals : $34.7M Base + $12.0M Bonus = $46.7M Cap Hit

Monroe had it narrowed down to two teams, and both of them fielded very competitive offers. Ultimately, he thinks that playing LT with an emerging Ryan Tannehill is the best thing for his future.

My other client, Hakeem Nicks has decided not to sign with a team yet. None of the contract proposed to him were acceptable and so he'll wait another day until deciding where to sign. Teams are able to up their offer.

Julius Peppers

Mr. Peppers would like to thank everyone that did approach him with an offer but he has to do what he feels is best for both his family, his legacy, and with what he is comfortable with.

After talking extensively with my client about the merits of long term security over short term team success he has made his decision on where he will be spending the 2014-15 NFL Season.

He will be keeping his cold weather gear handy as he moves from the Windy City to the Mile High City rejoining his long time former coach John Fox and fellow era great Peyton Manning.

Quote:
Denver Broncos - DE - Julius Peppers

2 years - $9.35m, AAV $4.675m per season, all $9.35m guaranteed, inc $5m signing bonus

yr1 $1.65m base, SB $2.5m - Cap Hit $4.15m
yr2 $1.8m base, SB $2.5m RB $900k - Cap Hit $5.2m

Michael Johnson

After numerous miscommunications and poor interpretations Michael Johnson has reached a decision that he feels is the best fit for him and whathe feels comfortable with. He became torn between two teams offering almist identical financial stability as well as showed a true interest in acquiring his talents through their pitches. He wishes he could play for both teams, collecting the paycheck from bith at the same time as well, unfortunately though that is not physically possible, albeit financially so.

So without further ado Michael Johnson would like to thank the patience and wonderful offer from the Oakland Raiders but he has chosen to stay with the familiar situation in Cincinnati for the next 5 years.

2015 5.5 mil salary, 2.36 mil signing bonus, 300K workout bonus

2017 6.5 mil salary, 2.36 mil signing bonus, 300K workout bonus

WR Golden Tate would like to announce that he has accepted a contract offer from the New York Jets! He is incredibly excited to be the new #1 receiver for the Green, and can't wait to get started with his new team.

Quote:
Jets offer WR Golden Tate a 5-year contract worth $39.875 million, with a $15 million signing bonus and $20 million guaranteed:

- Year 1: $4.975 million base salary, $3 million signing bonus (cap hit - $7.975 mil)
- Year 2: $4.975 million base salary, $3 million signing bonus
- Year 3: $4.975 million base salary, $3 million signing bonus
- Year 4: $4.975 million base salary, $3 million signing bonus
- Year 5: $4.975 million base salary, $3 million signing bonus

After mulling over several offers, my client Jon Asamoah has agreed to sign with the Cleveland Browns for the following contract.

Quote:
5 Years/$29.325 Million, 10 Million Signing Bonus, 17.73 Million Guaranteed (5.865 per year)

Year 1. 3.865 Mil Salary, 2 Mil SB Total: 5.865 Mil
Year 2. 3.865 Mil Salary, 2 Mil SB Total: 5.865 Mil
Year 3. 3.865 Mil Salary, 2 Mil SB Total: 5.865 Mil
Year 4. 3.865 Mil Salary, 2 Mil SB Total: 5.865 Mil
Year 5. 3.865 Mil Salary, 2 Mil SB Total: 5.865 Mil

Ultimately, the idea of playing between Joe Thomas and Alex Mack was extremely appealing, and the belief that finding a quarterback to play in Cleveland could make them a serious contender.

My client Henry Melton had a very tough time making a decision. He received a couple of great offers and after careful deliberations he decided that his heart was in Texas.

Mr. Melton is excited to join the Dallas Cowboys and return to his home state:

It was a tight race for Verner's services between two teams. The Browns organization made a strong push. In the end, Verner stuck with his first decisions. We're headed to the Big Apple!
