Wow. A terrible setback for the Dolphins franchise.

What are they really being set back from? It's not like they were functional before.

Given all the talk about what this position is actually going to entail, I think the headline should read more like, "Dolphins hire Hickey to be pretend to be GM and have decision making powers"

How many times has a team had 3 guys turn down a GM job offer?

People are complaining about Dennis Hickey. Could be worse, at least Stephen Ross didn't make Pitbull the GM.

He was going to be fired in Tampa. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hope he enjoys his one year of a pay day. Probably smart to accept it since it's probably a nice raise and who knows where he would be after the Bucs fired him.

On another note, John Carroll is the new big football mind place. I mention this because Caserio went there along with:

Tom Telesco
Greg Roman
Josh McDaniels
Dave Caldwell
Brian Polian

And London Fletcher was there with some of them. Pretty crazy to see all those guys come from there at once.

What a mess of a situation. Things will never change until Stephen Ross is gone. I thought they were making strides with the promising OC hire but what was I thinking?

As an outside I find this hiring really funny because it likely means the Dolphins are in for a long couple years.

However, being a Bills fan I know what its like to be laughed at by the league and I do feel bad for their true die hard fans. I just can't see this working out, he'll have the job less then a year I bet.

2015 Miami Dolphins:

New GM, New HC, maybe new QB.

Another take: "Tampa is psyched. They were going to fire him anyway. Now they don't have to pay him."

The one thing they got right being gone? I don't think even Stephen Ross is that dumb.

Of course, if they don't fix that line soon he could be damaged goods.

From Roto:

Quote:
The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley has been "told" that "several" Dolphins players are privately expressing a desire that they "want out of this situation" following Sunday's hire of new GM Dennis Hickey.

Hickey, as noted previously, was on the outs in Tampa Bay's front office and is an obvious fallback hire after owner Stephen Ross whiffed on at least three preferred GM candidates. The situation in Miami has become toxic, with Hickey set to operate as a puppet below coach Joe Philbin, who maintains control of the 53-man roster. Ross needs to blow this thing up, but his hands are tied due to his commitment to Philbin. It's only January, and already looking as though the Dolphins are headed for another really long year.

Ouch.

I kind of doubt that he can be any worse than Jeff Ireland.

Yeah Ross is a clown. This team isnt going anywhere till this guy is gone. Always finds a way to screw everything up.
