http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10354398/miami-dolphins-hire-dennis-hickey-general-manager

"The Miami Dolphins have hired Dennis Hickey as their new general manager, a league source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Dennis Hickey has spent the last three seasons as Tampa Bay's director of player personnel.
Hickey will replace Jeff Ireland, who parted ways with the Dolphins earlier this month after six years as the team's GM.

The Miami Herald reporter earlier Sunday that the Dolphins hired Hickey.

Miami missed the playoffs for the fifth straight year in 2013, losing its last two games in disappointing fashion en route to an 8-8 finish under second-year coach Joe Philbin.

The Dolphins' season also was mired by the bullying scandal involving offensive linemen Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito.

Hickey has spent the last three seasons as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' director of player personnel. He worked for the Buccaneers for parts of 18 seasons, including six years as their director of college scouting."

I don't really know much about him, so I can't say if it's a good hire or not.

I remember hearing his name a year or so ago when the Bucs looked like a team that might be on the rise.

I wonder how Brian Gaine feels about this.

This just seems like it's going to turn out to be an awful hire.

It said on ESPN that he's likely to leave the Dolphins. So not so good.

Can't blame him, I would not be happy.

Reminds me of the Browns HC search, a lot of people taking their name out of consideration.

Always good when you end up offering the job to 3 different people.

Apparently Hickey is not well respected in Tampa Bay.

Dumpster fire.

We will see.

@JasonLaCanfora: Dolphins interviewed Bucs exec Dennis Hickey today for their GM job, a move that has left a few football people scratching their heads

@BenVolin: Per Schefter, Lake Dawson also turned down the Miami GM job, joining Caserio, Ray Farmer and several others. Wheel finally landed on Hickey

He was set to be fired fairly soon it seemed like. They would've been better off hiring Dominik.
