At least they'd lead the league in something, that way.

Is everyone forgetting that he isnt going to be our HEAD COACH, Marrone is a no nonsense guy, and they type of play wont be tolerated. While Schawrtz was the DC in Tenn, they werent a dirty team, save for Haynesworth stomping Gurode's head.

I was talking about Detroit. Everyone talks about their penalties and personal fouls yet last I looked they were not even in the top 5 last year

Most of Det stuff was offside type

Actually alot of teams called Fishers/Schwartz defenses dirty between Albert, Finnegan, Tully, Brown, etc.

Yeah well we don't have Fischer encouraging it! Laughing

Our defense made plenty of stupid personal fouls last year, I doubt this hiring changes anything significant in that department.

The penalty thing isn't totally off-base, but personal foul's aren't going to be the penalties that will likely increase. Offside, encroachment, and neutral zone infractions will be the penalties that will likely go up. And, depending on how much influence he had on the secondary in Detroit and how much he will in Buffalo, you might see your CB's never looking for the ball. That one might be a bit of a stretch though.

Its a good hire for buffalo in my opinion my only question is can Hughes be as good at DE as he was a blitzing 34 OLB ?

He was a DE in our 4-3 Hybrid Scheme last year. A lot of times when we ran a 4-3, he would stand up, he was still playing the DE position but just didn't have his hand in the dirt.

He is a pass rushing specialist, we have some run stoppers at DE on the roster too, Alex Carrington and Alan Branch played very well at DE last year (on early downs).

That is assuming we re-sign Carrington though, who shares an agent with Bryd. I like Branch but we certainly need some depth. My only issue with Schwartz defenes is it seems to be adding to our "needs" list.

DE, MLB/WLB, and it possibly makes it so guys don't fit as well (Hughes, Lawson)

I'm not sure if Gunther or Schwartz was the success for the Lions. But Schwartz was a hot head that everyone wanted fired...He had no discipline football. It was just mistake after mistake. And most teams watch film and correct it for next week. Nope, not this guy. You will see the same penalties over and over...hopefully someone will take over the "dirtiest player" from Suh. Probably Dareus, Usually a DT. Good Luck though Buffalo. The only thing, that was a bad idea was hiring Downing. He's a horrible QB coach and made Stafford worse every year lol.Same thing, never corrected mistakes.
