http://www.sportsworldreport.com/articles/26618/20140120/oakland-raiders-rumors-reggie-mckenzie-confirms-darren-mcfadden-returning-rashad-jennings-contract-extension-free-agency.htm

Quote:
"Darren's going to be a free agent and there's been communication with his agent," McKenzie said, via ESPN.com. "He's going to see what his market is. And that's the thing, when you're talking about the games that he's missed, he has no idea -- and when I say 'He,' I'm talking about his agent -- he has no idea what his market value will be and I couldn't tell you what the other 31 teams think."

Quote:
McKenzie noted he is hopeful to re-sign Rashad Jennings who took over for the absent McFadden. He totaled 733 yards and six touchdowns on a less-than-average offensive line. The Raiders are confident that he could be a true starter in the coming years. He could also end up being a much cheaper option for the Raiders.

Nothing new. See him landing in ATL, Cincy or NY.

Jennings and Murray will be the top 2 backs. Wondering if they draft a smaller shifty RB.

i can't say it makes me happy.
while i wasn't huge on the pick, the guy has played hard when healthy, so it's always been that big tease with him; are you going to get superstar RB breaking 70 yard runs or injury RB with 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

i understand (and agree with) letting him test the waters, and maybe signing him if he is willing to take a pay cut/part time role. but i also will miss those explosive plays.

The explosive plays seem so long ago that i won't miss them. Really wish we could have traded him 2 years ago. Now, we'll get nothing in return.

I wish playing hard would've yielded production. I definitely will never question his effort, just his running style. You are correct in your analysis though. I also hated the pick but those things happened w/ Al. Only hoped for the best. As the years go by, we're getting rid of his stink on this team. That makes me happy also.

If the explosive plays were more than 5 times a season, I'd contemplate bringing him back. He really couldn't even give us that.

I wish him well but I think someone will be sad when they overpay for him.

Agreed. I was preaching that was the route to go also.

Do we take DAT if he drops to the 4th as a punt returner, kick returner, and change of pace back/ slot receiver (really good hands)? Reggie did say that the team needs playmakers and the black mamba is certainly that.

Great. More transparency. We choose when to believe McKenzie when he consistently keeps it real.

Darren's Agent deserves a ton of credit. Ian Greengross negotiated his Client a 6 Year 60 Million contract & DMC saw the end of it despite missing extended periods of time. Entering FA, teams will either view his absences as the player's effort to limit wear & tear to prolong his career, of they'll think he actually has durability issues & poor practice habits.

do we have anybody on the practise squad? I seem to remember a few interesting little options in camp last year, don't know if we kept them though

The problem is that two years ago, ONE year, people like Rundmc23 and MANY others would absolutely lose their minds at mere suggestion of moving DMC.
