Lots of Pro's and Con's about this:
The main Pro being that I'm not a big fan of his play calling.
The main Con being if there was just a little bit more consistency and dedication to the run I would be completely satisfied with him staying.

Vanderbilt had a private plane set to get Hamilton and his family this morning "but he passed to stay (as) Colts OC," according to Feldman. Hamilton joined the Colts this year after coaching at Stanford. |

Unfortunately Norv Turner will probably be locked in with the Ravens before Pep is even offered the job _________________ Colts/Badgers/Brewers/Bucks |

I agree no thank you
I have to believe there is a good candidate out there that could come in and do some things.
Have to look for a few candidates this evening _________________

Really don't want to see the Colts have their 3rd offense in 3 years. Pep was a rookie OC in the NFL this year, and the second half of the season he seemed to show nice promise. Hopefully he stays. _________________

Thats my only issue 3 OC in Lucks first 3 seasons.
Although, I think he can strive in any offense we choose.
Pep did show some signs of improvement, but how low is the ceiling?
I wont be mad either way
Its whatever, if he gets the job, great, if he doesnt then I will be fine with giving him another year _________________

I kind of hope that Pep stays just for the sake of consistency with the offense. For a first year OC to lose Allen, Wayne, Ballard and Thomas on the offense and still get to the playoffs and win a game, not bad. He did show a lot of progress towards the end of the season.
If he does go, I hope we can get Gary Kubiak to be the OC. Worked well in Denver as OC. Plus, the zone blocking scheme would probably work a lot better than this power run stuff we have been trying. Maybe it is the system that can make TRich productive. _________________

I think Kubiak would be a good hire too _________________

No to Kubiak. He is of the zone blocking scheme which is a contrast to the power run game that we are "running" _________________ Colts/Badgers/Brewers/Bucks |

Best wishes to him in whatever he does, would like to keep him around here though so that this young team can grow with his offense. _________________ I bought one of those tapes to teach you Spanish in your sleep. During the night, the tape skipped. Now I can only stutter in Spanish.

I'm gonna say no to Kubiak. The transition to a zone-blocking scheme is very difficult and I don't like his protection (His QBs take a lot of hits) or his play calling. With how thing the OC pool is this year, I think we should push to keep Pep. His overall playcalling improved towards then end of the season, we were just so depleted of weapons. Andrew and several others looked very comfortable in the system, and I still really want to see what Vick Ballard can do in this system |

Looks like it was Pep's job to take, and he turned it down...
Goes up another notch in my thoughts about him

If this is indeed true, it definitely earns some immediate respect. Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the Colts hiring him to take over as OC and he has already dedicated another offseason to helping this offense. Keeping the offense relatively similar for the main core players all the while getting a full offseason with others (namely Richardson, Thornton and Da'Rick Rogers)
I'm going to change the thread title to reflect this new development. _________________ Colts/Badgers/Brewers/Bucks |
