Yea the game plan just wasn't working, especially when Mathews was done. Just waited too long to go to Rivers, though early on the protection was crap as well.

If Wright doesn't botch that INT and Novak doesn't miss that FG... I think its a different ball game. I also still think that one FG by denver was a miss... but w/e.

Still proud of the team though. Nothing was expected of us going into the season then to win a playoff game and make this one interesting at the end... well I'm happy. Now we just need McCoy to not be quite as conservative next year! (I know, not happening)

Yeah, it is hard to be upset with this squad. They have heart and guts, which is something we haven't had since the 2007 team.

Future is bright though, if we can get this defense to be league average.

Good game guys. You all played your hearts out and gave Denver fits all year. There's something to be said about that. Expect more of the same next year.

I know. I'm not looking forward to you and the Chiefs next year. Even the Raiders could be a little better. Best division in the AFC.

Definitely disappointed, but hard to be upset. This team overachieved, even though they really underachieved at times. I don't think any of us expected them go as far as they did. A few personnel moves, and some better play calling, and we could see greatness next year.

The thought is that Frank Reich is going to take over the OC spot once Whiz leaves. Hope he can figure out that run, run, pass isn't going to work against high scoring teams.

I'm not upset. The future is bright. Rivers/McCoy/Joe-D alone are gonna make us a top five offensive unit for years, just like we were with Rivers/Norv between 2007-2010, before the wheels fell off.

I don't think we're going to be a Super Bowl contender in the traditional sense until Pagano is replaced, though.

Dream scenario. Broncos win the Super Bowl (yeah, every dream has a little bit of a let-down to it). Peyton rides off into the sunset on top (because honestly there's almost nowhere to go from there but down if he does get Ring #2 this year). Broncos are left with Stork Osweiler as their QB which doesn't inspire a ton of confidence in many of their 1-year contractees to re-up. McCoy somehow voodoos Peyton into coming here as his new OC. Madness ensues!

That said, are people still going to defend Pags on the "if he had talent" bit? I'm becoming more and more convinced that even he he had better talent he'd find ways to squander it. Bird's probably going to get blasted for that 3rd and 16 play where Thomas got open and made the sideline grab for the 1st, but Pagano's play-call on that instance was GOD AWFUL. That's an instance where you send the blitz, put pressure on Peyton, and force him to throw it quick and likely take the dump-off with the joker already in the flat to collect the tackle (i.e. what he called to beat Luck in the 4th quarter when we played Indy earlier in the season). Instead... we get that.

That play was such a heart-breaker. Momentum was yours and I had no doubt that game was going into overtime until that play. What was with your players taking teammates out of the game? Did I count it happening on three separate occasions?

Anyways, it was fun watching this team, definitely the biggest underdogs in the postseason, with a really likable group of players. Hope Rivers can get a ring before its all said and done. I came in here to ask what you thought of Whisenhunt, as a Coordinator and potential coach. Do you put Rivers/Matthews resurgence and Keenan Allen's impressive rookie year on him or McCoy/Reich?

Addae plays like a bull in a china shop. Sometimes it pays off, others it doesn't. Not blaming Welker in the slightest (hell, if I was in his position I'd do the same damn thing), but being one of the more savvy receivers out there you could see him willingly tuck and go to the ground much easier when he'd been wrapped (and was effectively already going down anyway), to get out of the way of any additional hits that might be coming over the top (i.e. bang bang type stuff).

I've been impressed with Addae of late, he's definitely improved over his rookie season. He's a scrapper for sure.

I'm not sure on that 3rd and 16 play that bringing the blitz would have been any better. We got zero pressure on Manning all night, just don't see us being able to get any on that play either. Also... why did we let Vasquez go?! Imagine him at RG instead of Clary this year Sad

Unfortunately this conservative nature in the first half killed us. By the time we realized we have a good QB, it was too late.

Are there any decent RB free agents this off season? Not break the bank type but someone who could replace Ronnie Brown that could do some more on the ground. I like Brown, he seems like a very respectable guy but he can't run the ball anymore. Woodhead is a nice change of pace but can't be relied on to run more than a handful of times. We need someone who can pound the ball like Mathews, punish the D and get them tired. That it me is why we fell behind so much in the first half, McCoy and crew kept playing as if Mathews was still on the field. If that's the style they wanna play, he must have another capable running back.

You answered your own question. They gave too much money to Clary to pay Vasquez. Clary's contract

Vasquez's contract

On the RB front, I'm actually hoping Telesco takes a page from Ryan Grigson's book and looks to the CFL. Kory Sheets was tearing it up there this season, looked like a man among boys, and while he wouldn't be a high-end starter in the NFL, he's certainly got quality back-up potential to his game, is still young, and would probably come pretty cheap considering that the vet minimum in the NFL is still notably higher than the average CFL salary.

They need a mid round back to help carry the load. Doubt they'd do it but....Isaiah Crowell would be interesting...

Need to watch more Carl Bradford now. Heard he's a pretty great athlete, so could be interesting in round 2.
