Quote:
John Schneider, Dave Gettleman and Trent Baalke, the personnel-oriented GMs in Seattle, Carolina and San Francisco, have their teams among the final four in the NFC partly because of their veteran additions.

In the trades of 2013, look what Anquan Boldin did for the 49ers, what Alex Smith did for the Chiefs, what LeGarrette Blount did for the Patriots, what Jerry Hughes (10 sacks) did for the Bills, what Carson Palmer did for the Cardinals and what Jon Beason did for the Giants.

In free agency, some of the wise signings on offense were tight end Martellus Bennett by the Bears, guards Louis Vasquez by the Broncos and Matt Slauson by the Bears, and running back Danny Woodhead by the Chargers.

The list on defense includes ends Michael Bennett by the Seahawks and Mike DeVito by the Chiefs, nose tackle Glenn Dorsey by the 49ers, inside linebacker Karlos Dansby by the Cardinals, outside linebacker John Abraham by the Cardinals, cornerback Keenan Lewis by the Saints, safety Glover Quin by the Lions, kicker Phil Dawson by the 49ers and receiver-returner Ted Ginn Jr. by the Panthers.

Green Bay's only signing was Matthew Mulligan.

"They have no pro department up there," an executive in personnel said. "Ted does some good things in drafting but they don't do (expletive) in personnel.

"Ted has shut it down lately. They've gone stone cold. They have not been utilizing all the markets. Now it's caught up to him."

Hard to argue with the overall point of the article. The biggest thing that concerns me with TT is that he keeps losing his assistants to other GM jobs. No matter what job you're talking about, the top dogs are successful in large part because of the support staff they have under them. Granted, they're largely responsible for teaching and training that staff but when you keep losing people and having to start over with new and less experienced people a performance drop off is inevitable. We'll see how good TT really is.

Is this the same guy that wrote an article saying we'd be fine if Aaron went down with injury?

He can't change his mind, after further observation and analysis?

If I didn't know better I'd accuse McGinn of writing outrageous stuff he doesn't really believe in the interest of getting clicks and selling papers.

Great analysis. Because you disagree with them, they are garbage?

Oh, btw:

After covering the Packers for 32 years, itís a well-deserved honor for one of the greatest football writers in the country.

Rolling Eyes Wow, Bob McGinn being critical of Ted Thompson, imagine that!

I still maintain if GB could stay healthy they would be elite.

The problems with this team exist in the strength and conditioning department. It does not exist wit the FO.

The Packers are the only team in the history of the NFL to suffer injuries.

So who left in the playoffs is missing their best defensive player? Oh and their second best player on D?

Injuries will happen every year, we have to dodge the Clay and Rodgers ones but not the MD Jennings ones.

What about all the teams in the NFL that spend a ton of money on FA year after year, and cant even make the playoffs? There are more high price failure FA's in the NFL now days than not. Since when are the 49er's elite?? They havent even won a superbowl since 95. Ted won a superbowl just a few years ago with the way he operates. I have no doubt he'll win another soon. You should just be thankful we have a year to year playoff team in Wisconsin, because we could have always kept Favre and let Rodgers go.....Yeah dumb move Teddy.. Im sure you could guess how decent we'd be then. Just be thankful for what you have.

Of course not...but c'mon man year in and year out, they are the most banged up team in the league.

Injuries are part of the game, but what the Packers have been through the last two years is flat out ridiculous!

A strawman argument, in all caps.

This is what having no legit arguments look like.

If the Packers have the most injuries, then why not change the way the team trains?

And more importantly, if the Packers have the most injuries, how do you know these players are even good, if they can't get on the field? You're just assuming they are good, simply because they are injured.
