No idea why the hell they would keep Jim Haslett.

Because Haslett, for all his faults, wasn't the problem with the defense. The problem was Shanny meddling (by taking a Top 10 4-3 unit and turning it into a 3-4 experiment that failed) and the inability of the Front Office to properly upgrade talent on the defensive side of the ball.

If you're a chef and you've been asked to cook a filet mignon meal, how are you going to do it with ground beef?

As I've said before, Haslett was asked to do alot with very little and still his defense graded out ahead or near some other defenses that everyone said are "great".

Isn't Haslett a 3-4 though? ^

I'm pretty sure he also did 4-3 in the past. The point is the Redskins didn't have, and still don't have the horses for a 3-4.

Lol.

Didn't Dalton post better numbers than Kaep in the regular season?

I said nothing about one QB being better than the other. I actually think more of Dalton than 95% of this forum. But that has nothing to do with my point.

Plenty of Coaches/Coordinators are not meant to be HCs. Zimmer rubs Owners/GMs the wrong way, maybe they're right, maybe they're not.

Also look around, if I'm not mistaken their are more offensive minded HCs than Defensive minded.

I think you're right, he was HC/DC for Rams and Saints, they been a 4-3 from the 2000-2010 or at least when he was there.

FWIW, Adam Schefter tweeted this morning that Zimmer is emerging as a favorite for the Vikings head coaching gig.

Decent hire by the skins. Not flashy, but not gimmicky. That is pretty much what they needed right now. I don't think he is going to be Washington for the next 15 years, but odder things have happened.

He was alright for awhile for the Bengals. But his play calling was extremely questionable at times and IMO he doesn't use his personnel right.

Putting Gio in on 3rd and goal up the middle

Or

In the playoffs on 4th and 3 going deep

I've never heard any fan base at any time praise their offensive coordinator for more than 1-2 seasons.

Honestly, this. I respect opposing fans opinions on there coaching staffs during coaching searches, but literally every offseason where an OC or DC (for the most part, theres very few) of theirs has interest from teams and interviews for HC gigs they ALWAYS say "Take him, he's been awful here, very bad/questionable playcalling."

Solid hire for the Skins. Would rather have Zimmer/Bowles, so it's all good.

My immediate thought as well. Gruden has been a solid OC as far as I can tell but hasn't done anything particularly good/noteworthy as far as I remember outside of his last name. Reminds me a bit of Rob Ryan, generic/competent coordinator who gets overrated due to his last name (at least Rex showed he could field elite units consistently).
