Yep. Basically a standard contract that enters into effect on the first day of the New League Year. Thus the players/contract do not count against this year's roster limit or cap.

I REALLY like the Van Dyke signing. He did not get nearly as much of a chance in Oakland as he should've. In 4 starts as a rookie, he allowed 9 catches on 23 targets, for 122 yards, a TD, an INT, and 3 PDs. That is STELLAR. Then every time whoever he filled in for came back, they benched him back to ST duty. I mean, he wasn't even playing #4 CB. He was either starting (at RCB) or he was a gunner and nothing else. And then in Pittsburgh the next year, he didn't see a single defensive snap. He was a pretty divisive cut when Oakland dumped him, IIRC. A bunch of Raider fans were confused and annoyed that they cut a 2nd year guy that quick. Others didn't care.

Frankly, he reminds me of Brandon Carr. Much faster, a bit lighter, but similar length and height. Great man coverage skills, but struggles substantially in getting his head turned around. Means a lot of good coverage, but if tested, he can allow catches despite being in position.

Dominique Hamilton (DT)

That's alot of DT they have now. Some will not even make it to camp.

When did we sign Ridge Wilson. Talented, but troubled college career. Looking forward to seeing him and Malcolm Bronson next preseason.

well, running wild beyond two days. A few more:

OT R.J. Dill
S Jerron McMillian
DE Brandon Moore

Body count: 20 (TWENTY!!!) new players signed within a week!

Summary here
2014 Roster here

What kind of befuddles me (but what I really like) is that they are bringing in 2- and 3-year veterans like McMillian or Van Dyke. Don't remember that to happen under Pioli and Peterson - they usually re-signed their practice squad and that was it.

Not a signing but interesting:

Saskatchewan all-star WR Wes Dressler will work out for the #Chiefs on Tuesday. NFL teams can't sign CFL free agents until mid-February.

Did a little reading on this guy as the first thing I read was a comparison with Wes Welker. He has a pretty impressive resumee in the CFL. More than 1000 yds receiving each of his six years in the CFL (but one when he got injured after receiving for 941 yards), playing all kinds of positions, and initially returning kickoffs as well.

He'd probably someone who could take McClusters role if DMX walks.

His wiki page:

c'mon 28 years old and has yet to sniff the NFL and he's gonna replace 50 catches, part time 3rd down back/trick play guy/emergency RB, and pro bowl punt returner Confused

Maybe you didn't mean he would replace the production only his position on the team and if so I apologize...but even then, we can't afford that sort of downgrade.

Maybe he's better than Chad Hall, but that's a question mark...and if he is by how much?
