Round 5 Pick 2: Alden Darby, SS, Arizona State

Here's what I did. I assumed we shipped Cousins out for another pick (but obviously this site doesn't reflect this). I also assumed we switched to a 4-3 and signed all of our own FAs.

I included the grades they gave me. They were not too fond of three of my picks.

As you can see, I traded down a bit.

Let me know what you think:

Your Picks:
Round 2 Pick 5 (OAK): Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor (B+)
Round 3 Pick 4 (CLE): DaQuan Jones, DT, Penn State (A)
Round 3 Pick 5 (OAK): Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut (B)
Round 4 Pick 2: Bryan Stork, C, Florida State (A)
Round 4 Pick 3 (JAX): Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss (A)
Round 4 Pick 4 (CLE): A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama (A) Shocked
Round 5 Pick 4 (CLE): Andre Hal, CB, Vanderbilt (D)
Round 6 Pick 5 (OAK): Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State (B)
Round 7 Pick 2: Elisha Olabode, FS, TCU (B-)
Round 7 Pick 4 (CLE): Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota State (C-)
Round 7 Pick 20 (OAK): Bennett Jackson, CB, Notre Dame (C)
Round 7 Pick 25 (S.D.): Pat O'Donnell, P, Miami (Fla.) (A)

I didn't want to draft a QB that high, but McCarron was still available in the 4th and was our 3rd pick in the 4th round so I HAD to take him!

You guys do know that outside LB will be as big if not a bigger need than ILB if we go to a 4-3?

I guess he assumes Riley will remain at MLB. I think he's a better fit at SLB.

And if we switch to 4-3 we have a starting spot for Jackson available and then you add Brandon Jenkins and Keenan Robinson.

That's:

OLB = Riley, Jackson, Jenkins
ILB = <Whomever we draft>, Robinson, <FA pickup>

And let's not forget we still can use Daryl Tapp as well.

I don't think OLB is as big a need if we switch back to 4-3 as some think. At least not in the first year. DL, interior OL, ILB, CB/FS, OT & WR are bigger needs right now.

Actually I think Keenan Robinson is a natural fit for WLB.

So you guys want to bank on Robinson who has barely seen the field to start at WLB ,Rob Jackson who started out at DE before switching to 3-4 OLB or Perry Riley who is our best MLB if we resign him.And a rookie or FA pickup for MLB.Our defense will be worse next year than this year Laughing

No. I think you play Riley at SLB, draft a MLB either in the 2nd or 3rd and sign someone to start at WLB. Brandon Jenkins can backup Riley at SLB and cam come in on passing downs to blitz. Keenan Robinson will backup/compete for the starting role at WLB. You can either keep Barnett or someone comparable to backup/mentor the rookie at MLB.

I sure hope our new FO and coaching staff come up with a better idea than that or we are doomed. Twisted Evil
