Jason prefers the 4-3. And so does Jerry. So I would be shocked if we moved back to the 3-4. Personally, I prefer the 3-4.

But we will see. I wake up everyday expecting to read that Tampa finally asked permission to speak to Rod. And everyday I breath a giant sigh of relief. Laughing

Everything I have read suggests Monte is out, so I'm assuming Rod would just get the DC title also. I'm surprised there has been that much of a hold up. What do you think is the reason? Does Jerry have another candidate he might want more then Rod (like Jim Schwartz with the wide 9 for example)?

I think it more stems from allowing Kiffin's contract to expire rather than firing him. Rod (in part why I love him) is a loyal man. Fire his mentor and he will become disgruntle and I am sure push hard to join his best friend.

Also...I don't think Rod want's to be DC. I know he did it as a favor to Lovie in Chicago. But I really think he would rather stay as DL (be it in Dallas or elsewhere).

In the end I expect him to be offered the DC of Dallas. But I really don't know. There has also been talk of keeping Kiffin (dear god), Schwartz (who would clash with Jason), Horton (who I would love, but wants a HC job) and the like. Part of me really doesn't expect Rod to Coach in Dallas this year. I hope I am wrong. I will take him in any capacity he wants.

I have been a Bucs fan for over 30 years, so like you, I was able to see first hand Rod's brilliance in working with the dline. As much as you want him to stay, I'm just as determined for the Glazers to fuel up the private jet and bring him back home. Very Happy I certainly don't believe the hiring of Leslie Frazier automatically means Rod is still not coming to Tampa.

So which title will Rod hold this year:

Option #1 - Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator - Dallas Cowboys

Option #2 - Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Line Coach- Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I'm actually psyched bc we have chemistry amongst our staff. Lovie has been successful and his coordinator is a successful coach whom he's worked with.

That's what I was trying to say earlier. If Lovie feels comfortable with Frazier then I more than comfortable with him. They guy we are talking about have been around the block and know how things work.

I don't think I could be much happier with how the staff has come together so far.

would have preferred Marinelli but Frazier is a good hire

obviously qualified for the job and will get the players respect. I am hoping Smith has a lot of say on the schemes Frazier runs.

like you guys said I like the chemistry amongst our staff… coming together nicely and quickly for once

As shocking as this is, I will gladly take it. Laughing

Smith said Rod Marinelli is a Dallas Cowboy and we won't be seeking permission to bring him in.
