Do you all really think that many QBs will go in the first round of the draft? I wouldn't hate them trading out of the #1 and taking a QB at #33 or something. O'Brien will want his pick of player though and the Texans haven't traded out of the #1, they will want to reach a deal with whoever they pick before the draft too.

What is the success rate for teams who didn't take a QB #1 overall?

You get the first pick, you take a QB and hope he becomes a franchise QB.

The last 2 instances (Chiefs and Dolphins) both teams made the playoffs the next season, but yeah if you feel like a QB atop of the draft can be a franchise QB, then you have to take him first overall unless you already have one in place.

Very excited what O'Brien can bring to the team, really like the path he has been on coaching and what he's been exposed too and who studied under.

Will a new scouting dept. come with a new head coach? I'm disappointed in our scouting dept. over the last few years and the mid round draft choices made.

It's the same percentage as teams who took a QB not #1 overall I'm sure. There are too many variables that come into play. I just meant if someone is going to fall out of the first round or later in the first. Someone who BOB wants, why not trade out of the #1? That's kind of what I was getting at. I trust BOB's QB decisions though.

WR Stan Hixon

TE George Godsey

Some debate about pursuing SF DL coach as DC
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Tomsula
IIRC Tomsula worked with Vance Joseph in SF before he came to H-town

I think most of this is discussed in Coaching Candidates thread

Press conference is about to start! My friends there and says it's crazy, more of a party. Love seeing the excitement from the leaders of this team, Cush and Brown seem really excited to get to work.

Gameplan system both offensively and defensively. Adapting our system to cater to our players.

Refreshing would be an understatement.

Getting Horton to run the defense would be a coup. He runs a two gap but I think he can find a way to put Watt in a position to dominate.

I'm not really worried about the offense.

Enjoyed listening to the press conference while driving. He said tomorrow will be a long day as he will talk to some of the coaches on the staff right now. Listening to him speak makes me excited for Texans football to start again!

I just wish the Texans could draft Bridgewater now. Bring in assistants and coordinators tailored to maximizing his effectiveness in this "game plan offense."

Patriots' O = Texans' O?

If so, read this:
