Per source he's on a futures contract.

Was a senior at ULL in 2008 and hadn't played football until a stint in New York. Interesting body. Insurance to make someone's there in case Jolly, Pickett, and Raji are all gone?

EDIT: official now

Threat title is super misleading. He's signed to a future contract.

He can't play this year. He's essentially a camp body for next year.

The Lions signed 10 future contracts today, including former Packer great Giorgio Tavecchio

Fat Walden got hurt on Sunday, I figured this was his replacement. Is he back for sure.

Based on the comments, you should probably put it in the title because apparently people don't read.

Either that or people don't know what a future contract is.

Sorry though Should have bolded the "HE CAN'T PLAY FOR US THIS YEAR" part.

Hmmm the last time the Packers signed a formers Jets DT was 2010...

and the Packers won the Super Bowl...

Also the last time Rodgers missed a start was in 2010.
Last time Flynn started for the Packers was 2010

Last time Finley was on the IR was 2010
Last time Quarless started was 2010

Last time the Packers knocked off the Bears in what was basically a playoff game... 2010...

Yet all of it happened this year.

I could be wrong, but based on the media transaction information, Coleman signed a normal PS contract, and not a futures contract. The Chiefs and Bengals have signed futures contracts in the last couple days but the Coleman contract does not appear to be the same. So far.

I'm working on untangling a mess from all the futures contracts I hadn't expected and the various ways teams are tagging them so I've had dose of exposure. Oops.
