It is going to be a long and hopefully interesting offseason for us. Discuss things in here that may not merit their own thread

Yay.

I think Gilbride is as good as gone, from what Mara said. Also said Mike Sullivan is someone "they think highly of". Looks like Coughlin and Reese will also be retained, which is fine with me as long as Gilbride is gone.

Let me give you my personal opinion, on what I think has happened.
It all started with the release of the coke machine in Brandon Jacobs.

hey, hey.... what do you know? Laughing

John Mara wrote:

Mara also echoed a complaint that will sound familiar to Giants' fans, bemoaning the reluctance to use some young players.

"I'm not sure why it took us three years to find out Jerrel Jernigan can play," Mara said. "Sometimes you have to put younger players in the game and give them a chance to succeed or fail."

Mara says coaching staff is "one of the main topics of discussion" for brass to have this week. Won't speak on it til then.

@ebenezersamuel: Mara on offense: we can't go into next season with the same personnel.

@ebenezersamuel: John Mara on Mike Sullivan: "he is obviously a guy we think very highly of." File that away.

More Mara:

Quote:
My biggest concern coming into the year was would our offensive line stay healthy because I was concerned about the depth we had there,” Mara said. “Then, our center (Baas) and Chris Snee got hurt right off the bat. Then, the backup center (Jim Cordle) gets hurt and we never seemed to protect Eli well enough or get the ground game going well enough.

“That, to me, is the No. 1 priority going into the offseason. We need to improve the offensive line.”

Eli totally deflective about Nicks being back next year when asked about him on WFAN. Sounds like he has no expectation of him being back.

"I try not to get involved in the business matters.... I've lost friends when they go to other teams and that's just the way this league works."

Also hearing that #NYG personnel man Marc Ross could end up with #Bucs if team hires Lovie Smith. Ross could be GM.

Man we are a bad team, and teams still want to steal people from our team

Mara said Nicks was injured all year while in another i saw (not from Mara) saying that NIcks said he was 100% all year.

I agree so much with Mara on Jernigan. The fact that Jernigan actually looked good when he played makes Gilbride look bad or whoever was holding him back.

Nicks was the one that said he was healthy

I'm on my phone but I'm pretty sure I posted in the nicks thread that he was the only FA that didn't say he wanted to return/retire with the Giants.
