What are the chances you guys let Bennett hit free agency?

BTW I'm cheering for you guys in the playoffs GO HAWKS

Hopefully 0%, dude has been our most valuable player on the defensive line this season.

Realistically, he could very easily go out looking for a monster contract that we could not pay him. I would love to have him back, but signing Earl and Sherm AND him could get pretty spendy.

Rice is gone this offseason. Clem is probably cut too. Those two moves open up about 14M in cap space. I think Red either restructures or is moved as well. I really don't think they want to let Bennett walk

I would Rate Richard Sherman first but it starts up front.

1. Michael Bennet. He's the best defensive lineman in the NFL right now. Can play defensive end, and is a mismatch at defensive tackle for all opposing guards in the NLF on third down.

2. Richard Sherman is the best defensive player in the league.

3. Bobby Wagner. Some would argue that Earl Thomas should be a top 3 player on defense but I think Wagner is much more valuable right now at MLB. He makes a ton of plays. Would be HOF potential type player if you guys blitzed him more. Great in pass coverage.

4. Earl Thomas. Is very timid when trying to come up stopping the run, but great center fielder.

5. Kam Chancellor. Is the greatest run stuffing safety in the league right now. Without him your defense would not be number 1. Is great in zone coverage. As long as you guys don't give him man responsibility, let him do what he does best (stop the run, play zone) could be a pernial pro bowler.

Wagner is so hard for me to rank. Even in yesterday's game, which he was incredible in most of the time, he ticked me off when he'd run around blocks and open up lanes. He is a top 5 ILB when he's free to play in space, but that's not the only way the game is played.

Kam Chancellor isn't as frustrating because his highs and lows aren't quite so drastic. When Bobby is at his best, he's a better player than Kam by a tad imo. However, Kam doesn't have games that are quite as bad as Bobby either. I know I have always been the Mebane homer, but I'd put what he did this year at 4 for our defense. He's been consistently disruptive when single teamed and has done a really good job getting pressure in our base sets. Having McDonald and Bennett on the team this year to give Mebane more rest has been really good for his game.

1. Earl Thomas
2. Richard Sherman
3. Michael Bennett

4. Brandon Mebane
5a. Bobby Wagner
5b. Kam Chancellor

The rest.

Something I haven't talked about yet is how disappointing Malcolm Smith was yesterday. He was getting pushed all over the field.
