I think it would be cheaper for us to sign him long term than franchise, a franchise for a 2014 DE is expected to be nearly 13M.

I love this. It needs to be a shirt.

This dude has a serious screw loose,... or something... He just may become the very best DE in the NFL for the next 5 years... just sign him and worry about the rest later...

Hate to say it but he's getting Charles Johnson kind of money. 6 years 70 million... if we're lucky.

I don't hate to say it b/c this guy is one of the main reasons the panthers are the tops in the nfl (but I hear you). They have to pay him... It's called "Gettlemagic"...

We also have to remember, he had 7 sacks in 2 games, 8 in the prior 14. Then if you add in the Giants game, where he had another 3 sack game, he had 10 of his 15 sacks in 3 games. Meaning he had 5 sacks in 13 games.

The guy has a motor and the ability to turn it on, but let's remember than his sacks came in bunches. Saints was his most impressive performance given the quality of the team played.

Wasn't the fact Greg Hardy's character came across as a bit "odd" a reason he fell to the 6th round? That and injury concerns. If I remember right, he was talked about as a top ten or five pick at one. Tremendous talent with a terrific motor.

I really hope we keep him around.

yeah he had character concerns. he's clearly a rambunctious guy. it helps him on the field tho. what would the franchise tag be on him?

Still my favorite Greg Hardy moment. From last season after the ATL game. I love this guy.

Real talk here boys, what are the chances Hardy hits the open market? Do you guys have enough cap room to offer him the big contract? Are there any other players that would warrant the franchise tag rather than Hardy? How many mill a year do you think he will command? I ask this since Oakland has $65+ Mill to play with this off season, and I expect us to nab 1-2 high end FA's once the time comes. Also pass rush is one of our weak points so the move is realistic aswell.

Hardy is the only one that would warrant the tag, but I think there is a very good chance he hits the open market. We have a ton of players hitting free agency, including 3 of our 4 starting DBs, pretty much every receiver not named soon to be 35 year old Smith, our starting left tackle, etc. Plus Newton will need a contract extension sooner rather than later.

I really hope we keep him because he is such a fun player who is truly passionate about the game to go along with amazing talent, but I don't like our odds.

I think we either franchise him or sign him long term.
If he hits the open market I could see 16 million a year.
