*note this is a really rough draft of a mock. FA isnt exactly set yet as its tough to figure out what we might do or our needs. I think Shields and Spikes would be two solid additions....Shields can start whenever needed and Spikes can be Mecos replacement. Having a run stopper like him is a good fit next to Kendricks who excels in coverage

Richardson, Joyner and Coleman are going to be total beasts. And even though you re-signed both Cooper and Maclin, having Richardson as another weapon in the offense (in an offense built for speed) is just a flat out good idea. I know we've been kinda spoiled this year with the lack of injuries... but depth is a good thing.

I wouldn't mind keeping cole and drafting KVN...

My only other criticism is that i'm not sure Shields or Spikes comes here to be backups.

Also -- I don't Maclin gets more than a 1-year, prove-it deal.

I really like the draft. Big fan of Murphy. I think Spikes is going to want much more money than that. I don't really see the point in replacing Ryans. He has been very good this year and is still only 28 years old. I can see them going after someone like Sam Shields if they let Fletcher walk away.

Love getting Sam Shields he might bring more money in than that though.

Though I do understand your logic in trying to get someone to eventually replace Ryans and push Kendricks, I just don't think Spikes is the right guy.

Don't like trading Cole. Letting him go for anything less than a 3rd round pick isn't worth it.

Terrific draft.

I like the draft especially guitton in the 5th, i think a few years of devolopment and hell be a good starter.

Not a huge fan of trading Cole away he has really come on strong the last few weeks.

Trent Cole trade is bad too me. He is still a good player, and no 5th round pick could bring his production to the table.

TBH, I don't think Shields or Spikes leaves there respective teams. They both bring lots of value to true contenders, and they both are relatively young. Also you bring Shields and Spikes in, but don't move Cary or Meco? Don't really understand that honestly.

Trent Murphy is good, but I just don't love his pass rush ability. He is honestly a very similar player to Barwin, maybe just a little better athlete and more solid against the run.

Joyner I get, but I don't really like. Just not a big fan of his, even with the playmaking ability. Not big on Richardson either, but he could be good.

Coleman <3

Long seems fine, but I don't see him as a potential starter. Guitton is just ew, waste of a draft pick. Lyerla in the 7th makes perfect sense, but I have a feeling he is gone by Round 5.

Honestly, your last one was way better. I don't see much that really adds to the blend of players we have right now.

Few comments:

FA was tough. Not many good choices out there for us other than Byrd. I just wanted to make a mock without him for once lol.

I really want Spikes but I do doubt he comes here. Meco is 29 IIRC and should have a few good years left.

I will go back and change FA.....thats the only part I didnt like about my mock.

Maybe instead sign some OL depth, LB depth, and a backup CB. Would LOVE Byrd. he should be our main target. We dont need to go crazy in free agency.

Why not high on Murphy AZ? I love him. I think hes a better pass rusher than Barwin. His motor, first step, athleticism, etc are all great. Hes so underrated as an athlete too. If we dont take him Id be fine with Lawrence or KVN at 23. Lawrence is criminally underrated. Also feel like Murphys the kinda player Chip covets. Also Chips played against the guy so hell have a good gauge on him.

Richardson I used to not like. Id have taken Huff there instead but I feel hes too similar a player to Maclin so if we resign him Huff isnt the ideal pick. Richardsons grown on me though lately. Kids talented as hell. A bit skinny but he can add some weight. Could be great in our offense.

Why not high on Joyner? , hes small but damn the kid can play. Reminds of me Matheiu a lot. Has ferocity....makes plays.....is fast as hell....hard hitter who can actually cover and is great in run protection....dudes just a playmaker. He hits hard...can make plays on the ball.....I love the kid as a prospect. He could be a HUGE addition to our defense. Idk whats not to like aside from his size (5'8 190).

Love Coleman . Want him a lot.

Guitton isnt a bad pick at all. He could be very valuable as a backup. Maybe could use him in some packages too on offense. I like the kid. Fifth round is solid value.

Long I like a lot. Disagree that he wont be a starter. I think he can start in a couple years. At least provides depth at guard.

My issues aren't with the draft but with free agency

-First off bringing Maclin back as a WR who you have listed as at best the #4 (You have Cooper and Jackson listed as the starters outside and Richardson as the slot guy) is dumb. A #4 receiver who can't play special teams is pointless. Also sticking at WR what the hell has Damaris proven to stick, dude is mediocre as all hell. If he's not getting blown up on a punt return he's fair catching it, and theres a reason he can't get on the field on offense. I'd rather have Brad Smith as a #4-5 receiver than Maclin and/or Damaris. Giving $3.5 million a year to your #4 at least to start is questionable. On top of that I doubt Maclin would want to return as a #4.

-I don't care what the idiots at PFF say, DeMeco and Kendricks have played well this season, and Spikes is a mediocre player, he's a downhill one dimensional linebacker.

-While I really want to reach a long term commitment with Thorton, its not a 100% neccesity, considering he's likely to get at worst the 2nd round tender as a RFA.

-Why the hell don't we cut Capitain Friendly Fire? Dude is awful and wayyy overpaid (I'm talking about Chung). You give Maclin 3.5 million a year and list him as the #4 receiver but you keep Chung when you can create cap room by cutting him?

-Thats a lot of dough for Sam Sheilds who is going to be a dime back by your depth chart. We could use that money smarter elsewhere.

-My only main issue with the draft is I have a hard time seeing Colt Lyerla drafted. Look at Da'Rick Rogers last year and add cocaine arrests, thats Lyerla's situation. On talent he's a first rounder, on character he doesn't belong in the arena league. Someone will take a shot as an UDFA, but I don't think anyone wastes a draft pick on him, draft picks are like gold in the NFL.

Murphy is fine. I look for a few specific things in pass rushers and Murphy just doesn't hit all my criteria. I love his physicality, and he is actually a very versatile player. The big things I think Murphy is missing is that explosive first step off the line, and I am probably not touching a pass rusher in the first round that can't beat a tackle with his first step honestly. Also, he is a liability in coverage, and some argue he would be better with his hand in the ground. Lawrence is a guy I like, he is explosive as hell.

Ya I don't like Huff much anymore. Richardson is big and can really move, I see the upside with him, just seems like a boom or bust pick(same problem I had in my mock).

Joyner is talented, and if we drafted him I wouldn't mind. I honestly just don't think the value would match where we could draft him. He seems kind of like a specialist to me, don't know if he is an every down player in the NFL due to his lack of discipline and his size. I wasn't high on Mathieu though.

I just don't get it. Drafting a guy who has barely played in the 5th when we took Barkley in the 4th last year? Maybe in the 7th/UDFA but it just doesn't make much sense to me. If we bring in a QB next year it should either be a veteran or a late pick/UDFA. I hope its the former because I would like to remain some what competitive in case Foles did go down(Not Mike Vick).

Also, Guys like Eddie Royal, Nate Burleson, and Josh Morgan are making 5 mil a year... You think Maclin would sign for two years 7 mil?

Agreed on Richardson.... he's hard to draw a comparison to. Part Desean, part Brandon Lloyd, part AJ Green, part Joe Horn. Dude has a #1 receiver skillset - really fast, great leaper, good route runner, can make circus catches. To get that type of talent in the 3rd is straight robbery.

I love Coleman I love him a lot enough to where I think he wont be available in the 4th round, I think he is going to sky up draft boards

Sam Shields is too small. Chip wants big corner backs.. Were not trading Trent Cole, he has had a great year in his first year as a 3-4 LB

Don't like the first 3 draft picks. Rounds 4-7 are good.
Sam Shields probably isn't going anywhere (But he would be my #1 preference for FA signings if GB inexplicably doesn't re-sign him), which is why you will see me mock us signing Tracy Porter when I do my mocks with FA signings.

I'll take Cary Williams over Tracy Porter

We already know I won't.
