#54 is awfully optimistic for Sutton.
Potentially game changing defensive lineman are at a premium.
Dollars to donuts he goes before the second round.

Erving has a really good shot at going in the first half of round one, too.
Pull some of your picks up a round (Dixon as well) and hope for that.

Why are we releasing Dockett and Johnson and Feely for?

Who plays guard opposite Cooper? Fanika? I vote for an upgrade or keeping Colledge

We dont need Orakpo at $20 mil either, waste of cash, he is not that good.

Draft is ok for what you have done previously, I love Perryman, but where does he play with Dansby, DW and Minter already playing ILB ?

Can Sutton play DE, I think he is a disruptive 4-3 NT/UT personally, not sure he is 3-4 DE though.

I was going to post one of these on the weekend, feel free to critize me too Smile

Well I traded Dockett because it's going to be incredibly difficult for the Cardinals to extend Peterson and keep one of their top cap guys like Dockett. I feel like Sutton could be a good DE in our 34 scheme.

Personally, I think Orakpo is a great player and will fill the pass rusher need we have. He's explosive and strong as hell.

And Perryman to me is a BPA pick. Since Brinkley won't come back in 2014 Perryman adds some more depth to the position.

Idk looking back at it there are some changes I can make that may help the Cardinals more. This will probably be a thread that I will continue to edit as the season progresses.

If you need help making one of these threads refer to http://overthecap.com. Pretty much has everything there you could ask for.

Not sure I'd release Rashad.

Not a fan of the Orakpo either, for that money anyway.

Fitz didn't want to restructure?

Draft not bad expect for the ILB, where and when does he play as already stated by DJ.

IMO Sutton can play 34 DE like Dockett, but I am not sure I trade Dockett.

We already restructured Fitz's deal a couple years ago. We don't really have much room to move back anymore of the money he will earn.

I think Perryman is a very solid tackler and will be the future of our ILB corps as Dansby continues to get older. He just reminds me so much of D Wash when I watch him play that I had to have the Cardinals draft him Very Happy

In drafting Perryman are we giving up on Kevin Minter after one season of not playing? I don't mind the value though.

Who on earth are we going to play at safety? Jefferson and Dixon?

Perryman is fantastic value in 3rd.

Watch any Miami game, he is DW, only smaller.

He rushes the passer really well, always in backfield.

I hate saying that as a FSU fan.

Yeh we are a safety short, need to keep Bell or preferrably Johnson.

Not a huge fan. Three things that stand out to me...

We are basically giving up on Minter who I really like still getting developed behind Dansby

We are doomed at safety

Sutton is more of a NT than a DE in my mind

Re: Colledge he's been our best OL this year. That's not saying much but it makes more sense to release Colledge & Dockett after next season where we'd pay them less to go away. Besides they're both productive.

I just don't like ignoring QB in the first two rounds. Palmer's resurgence means absolutely nothing to me in terms of the future at that position.

I agree. While getting rid up hefty contracts is important, we need to make sure we don't create too many holes.

If we release Colledge, we better make sure we draft his replacement or Watford is ready. If we release Dockett, we better damn well make sure we resign Frostee Rucker.

As for QB, if we don't pick up one in round 1, I don't mind waiting til 3 or 4. If you assume all the top guys will go in round 1 (Carr, Bridgewater, Mariota, Mettenberger, etc) then the difference in talent between what you'll find in round 2 and round 4 won't be that much.

You can extend Peterson without raising his cap number at all in 2014, this often happens to rookie deals.

Remaining: 1 year 5.9 million

Extension: 5 years 65 million/35 guaranteed

Total: 6 years 70.9 million/35 guaranteed

Year 1: 5.9
Year 2: 8
Year 3: 13, Docket comes off the books.
Year 4: 13
Year 5: 14
Year 6: 17, restructured

The Cardinals can keep the defense together and he gets his long term guaranteed money a year earlier than he would if he waited by aging out his deal.
